i hope someone finally goes after gamestop they are the worst thing to happen to the gaming industry if you ask me. they should have been stopped long ago for there used game policy. this is why i prefer to go to bestbuy or frys.

They've tried pulling that stuff on me countless times and different gamestop stores. I can think of 4 of them that tried it on me. They tell me it's there last copy but its open. I always leave when it happens. I told them by law if its open it used. I acutaly got into aarguement with a store manager over it. He told me it ifmade me feel better he'd reseal it. I told him to F- off and walked out. I should have contacted the better buiseness beuro but I didn't.

Good for them, those fukers sold me a "new" display copy of digital devil saga 2, then when i got home to play it the disk was sratched to hell and there was some there was a bunch of these white crap on the bottem of the disk(which didnt even come off when i tried t wipe it). I bring it back the next day and get it exchanged and they tell me the white crap on the disk was just dust.

This is why I haven't bought a game from Gamestop in about 7 years.

Ah sweet justice, i was tired of them pulling down the shelf copy and claiming it was the only one they had left but it was still new, hope they get in trouble for that BS, i only like my games sealed.

I dont care as long as the case looks great the cd has no scratches/or smuges and the biggie it works then im all good i mean i love gamestop where else can you find great games for some low prices alot of the times(i mean Valkyria Chronicles $30 bucks were cheating them lol)

I've known this for a while and I'm glad that I don't shop at GS anymore. I hate them and everything they stand for. I will never ever go there again, they're dirty practices like this are screwing the consumer over.

It still blows my mind that people still shop there, if they only knew.

That's why when they pull the "oh it's not used, just the last one" stunt I walk out and walk across the parking lot to Target.

I'm not suprised. What is mind boggling is the fact that they sell used games for only 5 dollars less than the new and only give you about 25% of the value of the games that you trade in.

2. they tried to pull the trick on me several times and they actually succeeded once by saying it was the last copy ...i wanted to get mgs 3 so bad in the first day so i had no choice...but as they say:" fool me once shame on you. fool me twice shame on me" game stop will never trick me again!!!not that they never tried since then...but i just walked out the store

I remember buying a $20 new game from them a while back. It wasn't until I got home that I noticed the game was sealed with what looked like suran wrap (the stuff used to wrap sandwitches).

It's cool though, the disc didn't have any scratches so what ever. I only payed like $5 bucks more than a used copy.

The thing is they kind of have to do that because the developers would get pissed if their recently released game were getting sold next to virtually the same product for $10 less. The funny thing is though if you have an Edge card you get an extra $5 off bringing the total to saving around $10 to $11 on relatively new games. However part of the reason they do that is to push new copies of the game is to appease the developers since to my knowledge they don't exactly get a cut of GS's used game sales.

I guess in the end it doesn't matter so much as long as they work. Though I was surprised to find that thats not always the case. In order to get caught up on the story I went to my local Gamestop to get God of War I. Unfortunately by the third trip the guy behind the counter was kind enough to show me every copy of the game they had and unfortunately none of them were in shape to even be read by my PS2 let alone played. So long story short I asked if I could get a refund and they kindly obliged. Thats the only case though where I've had trouble with a used game. Every other game I've bought from them used has worked absoutley perfectly. Among them; Fifa 09, NBA 2K9 (for around $25), Shenmue II (a game I never would have gotten a chance to play had it not been for their used game selection), RE4, Silent Hill 4: The Room, Fifa 08, NCAA Football 08, Final Fantasy XII, and a used controller. The used PS3 I've gotten from them also works great and because I saved enough money I was able to get MGS4.

ya i noticed this when i picked out a new copy of dead rising chop til you drop rotflol

it had one fine scratch like some one was djing with it at a night club

i should have took the game back and say shove it ,l olthats probably how all their games get treated oh and to top this off they do not even bother checking used discs ,, and making sure theyd work

i went to replace a copy of gta iv for 360 my 4th time by the way all for the same problem the disc keeps melting

and the guy pulls out a disc with a crack down the center the same reason my copy broke lol ,

be very carefull i warning you , check before you leave

Wow..... I'm so glad I stopped buying games from Gamestop 3 years ago. I still go in occasionally to check out if they have any promos but I end up not buying anything from them. Best Buy's price match is often the best discount out there & Amazon has great discounts also but you have to buy it quickly!

I'm glad something is finally being done about this. I bet there will be a memo going out to all Gamestop employees today discussing "changes in the check-out policy."

Is it just me or has anyone else had nothing but horrible experiences from the people working at gamestop/eb games? They are always so smug and lazy and whatever you ask of them, they give you an attitude.

I only buy from them when its a last option. Almost always either order online or just download to my pc.

I wouldn't expect anything less than the worst from this company. They take a new game, pay some kid $20 for it, then sell it as $55 used, or in this case they get greedy and ask for the extra $5 bucks. "Oh, we were just using it's case for display purposes," lol.

I shop at EB as infrequently as possible, especially now that you can basically pre-order everywhere. Hell, you pre-order at Amazon, you almost invariably get the game a few days early. Not that you even need to pre-order anymore. The day Halo 3 came out, every store in my area had about 50 copies. Metal Gear Solid 4, GTA 4, the most anticipated games of this generation... if the dozens of copies sold on release day, wait another day or two and there's dozens more.

EB / Gamestop is irrelevant... none of us need to use them, and it is my strong recommendation that we do not. They are the enemies of capitalism, and turn humanity's glorious money dance into a perverted "lambada" of an affair.

I did not know this. Next time I will make sure I leave the store with the game in the shrink. If i suspect some foul play then I will return it ASAP so they can't tell me anything otherwise.

That so funny, because the gamestop where I live dose it all the time, I see these 18 and under kids work there say " Hey I'm going to take this game home tonight" they don't do any thing about it, I just hope some one dose something, because it bull S**t that these people can to this to us, have us buy a new game for $64 and it been played.I'm never going there again.

First of all let me say this. If you want new go to Wal mart or Best Buy or anywhere else. Second if you have known this for years as most of you say you have then why do you still go there. To me that is not a very smart person. Stop your complaining and go some where else and buy your games. The complaining on these forums gets old. By the way I wonder how many of the ppl who complain are using mommy and daddy's money to buy these games. Cause by all the complaining it sounds like 10 years old on here. Get a clue and go to other stores and never go back to Game Stop simple as that! (No I am not an employee of Game Stop!)

I did not get a chance to read the link that was first listed and I can not promise how true this is but I have heard that most GameStop employees get to bring a game home for a couple days to try it out, in order to be able to help the customers more with information about the game. I think thats a smart idea but I bet those are the games they are selling as new even though they were used by the associates. I find that VERY wrong.
