My thought process when I asked myself the same question you are asking is that the existing 60GB version has the emotion engine inside of it meaning that you're going to be able to play all ps2 games and ps1 games without using emulation software.  I don't know, but I really don't care for emulation that much.  The fact that the 60GB basically has a ps2 and ps1 living inside really made the decision for me.  With the 80GB using emulation you may run into some trouble with compatibility and what have you.  Good luck in making your choice, but know that the PS3 is one heck of an amazing machine.

Now you really don't need 80 GB unless you want lots of movies/music/downloadable games

Go ahead and buy it now and buy a new hard drive. You can get a 160 gig hd for a hundred bucks. There is no reason to wait for the price you can pay for a new hd.

Buy the 60 GB. It has better BC and you can buy 120Gb for less then 1 hundred, or you can stay with 60Gb(its enought) and buy a game with the $100.

If you want MotorStorm anyways, get the 80GB. If not, just get the 60GB.
