Alright well i am obsessed over getting a PS3 for christmas. I am asking for the 80 gig ps3 and extra duelshock 3 controller and LPB and MGS4. First of all is this all i should ask for since i do want a nice multiplayer game for the family to play with me along with an awesome game like MGS4. That is 575$ altogether probably a break for my dad from the 1 grand laptop i got last year. But also i usually get about 180$ I guess the main question here is what i should buy with that money. Please no GTA4 since I am 12 and i would not be alowed to get it but MGS4 is fine and i could probably push in resistence 2 but not like fallout 3. So please tell me what i should get right now i am thinking about Valkyria chronicles and uncharted drakes fourtune thank you for your time please reply.

get the 160G ps3, it comes with uncharted. Valkyria Chronicles is pretty good, i don't see why you can get resistance 2 and not fallout 3 though, what's so bad about fallout3? LBP, or guitar hero are some fun games anyone can play. to lazy to name any other games..

Sweet deal for x-mas. I'm getting my brothers hand me down PS3 (20G) while he is getting a new 80G. But I'm cool with it. I would say get Resistance. I loved the first 1. And get NHL 09 if you like hocky games or sports games. Fallout 3 we just beat but it has lots of blood and gore and lots of swearing. MGS4 is a must. Other than that just go to town and get what you want.

I agree too, a $400 laptop will work just fine. you could tell your dad that he doesnt have to spend too much money on you, that will be a great help on him.

Wow......that was unnecessary. TC, Valkyria Chronicles, Uncharted and Resistance 2 would all be great choices.

Emogun, admit it you're spoiled. There isn't too much shame in being spoiled. I believe most of us had to work hard to get a PS3. As for me, (I'm 16) I've never received presents and my brother and I were forced to save up for our 60 gb PS3 when I was 14. Now I have a great job, and I can buy my own games without having to save money money from the weekly 10 dollars I recieved.

Ok I am spoiled.I do take advantage of it quite a bit but this is the only treat for me because i do help out alot around the house and i dont get any allowence.I would much rather of worked with my brother to get it because i do love getting things by myself but first of all i dont have a brother and second i dont get any money at all.

If you have an HDTV and an HDMI (Or component) cable, get some Blu ray movies with it. Some godd examples I would pick are Wall E, Sleeping Beauty, Ratatouille, No Country for Old Men, Pirates Trilogy, I robot, the Godfather Trilogy and many others.

You're getting $575 worth of electronics and you're trying to figure out how to spend $180?

Dude, buy some canned food and donate it to charity.

It's the season of giving.

I never could understand my parents, I'm 13 turning 14 in a few and my parents have never given a damn about what I've been playing. Sure they've seen me play GTA and Fallout 3 on our big a** TV (can we say a** on GS?) and they've read articles that have kids killing themselves over the very same games I have.

What the hell? Are some people's parents overreacting to the news or are my parents awesome like that?

Whatever, I'll pick up on this thread later. I'm gonna go try and steal a guys car to see if it's as easy as it is ing gta.

Well I was only suggesting some blu ray movies I believe are good movies, but wow I can't believe you didn't like that movie. Any way I will also suggest more commercial choices like The Dark Knight, Iron Man, Transformers, The Incredible Hulk.

It's so true..

It may seem awesome to you that they don't care now, but it'll affect you in some small way or another, no matter what.

I'm glad my parents were strict, now that I'm 17.

I wasn't allowed to play T rated games until I was 14 or M rated games until I was 16, and even then I didn't own any myself. The only M games I ever played were my friend's games when he brought them over.

The 160GB PS3 already comes with Uncharted which still costs $60, so for an extra $40, you get 80GB which is worth it.

Also, I recommend Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction in addition to what you had in mind.

And for all you people saying that parents are bad parents because they let kids play rated M games before they are like 15 or 17 are wrong, they are just video games, there my be cursing but who goes to middle school and high school and doesn't hear a curse word? those of you that just now started playing rated M games at the age of 15 or 17 are a thing called SHELTERED, because your parents don't want their little babies to start cussing and go to a gun store and buy a gun because they saw it in GTAIV.... Gimme a break...

The only M games I ever played were my friend's games when he brought them over.

okay so what's different then your friend bringing them over and you owning them? lol you were still playing them it doesn't matter how you were doing it

Yeah, but I was getting around to the age where my parents were more lenient about it. I wasn't allowed to buy GTAIII, but if my friend brought it over my parents didn't really notice.

[QUOTE="Seritonin"]Sweet deal for x-mas. Other than that just go to town and get what you want.Emogun
Thanks man i will probably be trading in a bunch of old cheap ass wii games and other stuff and ill definately be getting r2 and valkyria chronicles now and has anyone played bioshock and fallout 3 because you said fallout 3 has a lot of swaering and **** in it i wouldnt b able to get it because my dad is a bit protective in a way but how does bioshock stand on the blood and gore/language level

Gimme a break...Titans23

You must be young.

Listen, when you're exposed to something, you become desensitized. My parents KNEW I would probably come across swearing in my lifetime, but the whole violence thing is different.

The more and more exposed the human mind is to violence, or anything for that matter, the more and more it becomes comfortable with it. Something you were sensitive about just seems to be nothing now. That's when it becomes a problem.

Especially if this happens at a young age, the mind matures with the idea that violence is nothing, and in some cases, ok. But, fact of the matter is, it's not and it does little in the way of solving problems.

The transition from sensitivity to lack thereof should ONLY happen during adulthood, when the human mind has enough experience to rightfully know what is right and what is wrong.

THIS is why parents SHOULD watch what their kids play and watch.

It MATTERS later on in life.

man, I can't watch horror movies because I hate gruesome violence, but I've played M rated games since I was 7. All that matters is that the kid can recognise the difference between Video Games and Reality. ( for some reason I can watch a gruesome scene in a game, but not in a movie; news)

Yeah, but how old are you?

Plus, it's different and it really depends on the kid and their upbringing.

I mean, would you really want to take that chance on your kid?

I myself am 12 but I know I am very very mature. This is not the first conversation I have had about rating wars thats for sure. But it does depend on who you are i do know some kids that play these games and it does affect them but myself defently knows the difference and I can definately play these games just for what they are made for an escape from reality for a little bit because i know it is all fantasy

I'm 16 and I understand where you are coming from with this subject and I agree that not all children should play violent video games. That being said, I do think parents should let the children play what the parents see fit, not the ESRB. Going through school i can tell you that kids play/see/learn what their parents don't want them too be it through friends, television, or whatever. I believe that, although it is up to the parents, if the child can make a compelling argument for the game/movie they can play it. (If I had a kid who played these games and showed any signs of violence or whatever the case may be, I'd take the game away from him.)

Couldn't have said it better. My dad never really cared and he is the one that played the rated M shooter games (doom) and my mom never really watched me and my siblings play video games much so I could have played rated M games anyways. However, I was able to decide for myself because I know that playing games like that corrupts your thinking. Do I ever want to get the feeling of shooting someone? No. If I was drafted and handed a gun would I carry it and shoot someone? No. For someone that does play video games like that I doubt they would have a problem with it.

I work at a lot of different schools in my district and I do ask what the middle schoolers do in their spare time. Most say play videogames, and it turns out they play the violent Gears of War and Halo games a lot. Are they generally violent, not really. If another student bugs them will they punch him, yeah.

Okay now this conversation is ridiculous, okay look it really doesn't come down to the games your parents let you play, the bottom line is parenting in general, i mean if some kid really did get the idea that violence doesn't matter and that it's okay to beat some kid up at school etc.. that's when the parents step in and start having some parental guidance, but as for me i've been playing rated M games for a while now, the only one i couldn't get when i was a kid was GTA III that was mostly because of the cursing and the SEX lol how come no one has said that about GTA they always talk about the violence but there is sex to, that's why but mostly M games are for blood and guts and until the New Gen games came out you have to admit the blood looked fake anyways haha
