I have a PS3 now, and I am stoked about GoW2.  Only thing is, do I hook up my PS2 again only for the rumble feature, or stick it out on the PS3 with the (much more convenient) wireless controller?

Of course I am not expecting any Sixaxis compatibility, but I wonder if the PS3 will display crisper graphics than the PS2 on the same HDTV?  Has anyone tried a comparison?  If not, I will do so and post a response when I buy the game this weekend.

I heard rumors that although its a ps2 game, they are still coding 720p into the game so it'll look better on a ps3.. I think that rumor was on this forum somewheres..

Wrong, PS3 doesn't upscale PS2 games yet. You'll be still playing it on 480p.

Just on a side note they have stated that it does support progessive scan as well as widescreen. That might be were the confusion is coming from.

Just a quick comment: I'm not a fan of backward compatibility but have recently tried both GTA: Vice City Stories (which already looks horrible on the PS2) and God of War II on my PS3, running through to the first save point in both. They look nearly identical on both my PS2 and PS3 though the PS3 tends to shimmer sometimes and have more vsync problems (where you see the rotating scenery drawn sometimes in stuttering chunks) with progressive scan than on the PS2. It's not enough to dissaude you from playing them on the PS3 if your PS2 is put away or gone.

In the end though, I keep my PS2 hooked up and enjoy the rumble, particularly on God of War II where it is used for good effect thoughout the game.

the game does have the encoding to support progressive scan but..... I really hate to say this but I'm really missing the rumble feature and I'm quite happy that it'll soon make its return in the third installment of the game.

PS 3. Rumble is pretty useless in other games other than MGS. Since nobody applied it as Kojima. We all remember the massages, and that kind of stuff.
Or get the PS 2 controller adapter

You're flat out wrong concerning progressive scan, do a quick google search and see what comes back, to say it doesn't is just flat out wrong.

Only time I've ever missed the rumble was in SotC when I pointed my sword toward a colossi's location and felt no feedback. Other than that, I don't mind it being gone too much.

Personally I see zero benefit from a wireless controller.

NO-HOOOOOOOO.. man... haven't yu heard this yet.. IGN corrected themselves from day one. NO 720P. BUT, when the new Backwards compatibility coming, chances are that upscaling is possible.. that's still not 720P, but at least it will look more decent on a hd screen.

So the fact that there is NO cord is not a benefit?

I have to agree they look a lot better on the PS2 even after all the updates, to my eyes there is a very noticeable difference.

there you go... maybe it will be better after the update. software emulation might work better, and might be upscaled

Yeah no fights to be had here. I need to get into the habit of putting :P after what I say. I still don't remember that emphasis and tone don't carry over into text.
