I was expecting a even higher score (9.5 - 10), too. The in-game graphics are perfect & the gameplay, as well. However it's a GREAT score. Can't wait, too. 9 days left for Europe.
We'll probably see 9.5 on other sites. As with Heavy Rain GS gave it an 8.5 and everywhere else gave it a 9.
I expected a 10 with all the hype, to be honest. But then again, I've never understood GS's scoring. Liked the demo, looks good, still not a day one purchase for me, I'll wait for greatest hits.

i was expecting slightly higher, but its still a solid score :DstarwarsjunkyHonestly, after reading the review I don't understand the score. The reviewer wrote this review as if he was dancing in rose colored shoes on top of cloud 9. It almost read like an epic love poem. A 9 is a great score for a game I preordered two months ago, but the written review betrayed the less than 9.5 score.
I was expecting a higher score as well but a 9.0 is still great in my book. I can't wait for next week!
It's kind of weird seeing as how the review only gushes about the game but scores it a 9. Also weird is one of the cons is "Not as diverse as God of War II " but the closing states "God of War III sticks to the strengths already established by its predecessors, but what it lacks in innovation it more than makes up for in execution."emitsu97Good I'm not alone. The written review song far too much praise given the final score.

Aye, exactly what I mean. GS can write the most worship-filled review, but give a game an 8. Then the next game they say good things about, but bash it a little, and it gets an 8.5. They need new people >.>
Surprising score from IGN. I expected 9.5 + from those guys.[QUOTE="CleanNJerk"]IGN review up as well. http://ps3.ign.com/articles/107/1075014p1.htmlDoolz2024
I dunno, I only expect games higher than 9 from IGN only if it's on the 360. Or have IGN turned down the bias a bit?

While the gamespot review raises some interesting questions I will assume he was reffering to the lack of innovative features not present in the game. Although in my opinion this is the definitive addition and proper closing to the GOW Trilogy. 9.5 in my book.
Great score but I can't shake the feeling that Tom's reviews was played safe. more then anything else.
Regardless, I don't care what score it received. I want to play the game.

I don't think they're biased. 9.3 is still great, just not what I expected from them. *looks at their GOW I & II review scores*[QUOTE="jeremiah06"][QUOTE="emitsu97"]It's kind of weird seeing as how the review only gushes about the game but scores it a 9. I was just making an observation of the gamespot written review. Which seemed too dolled up given the final assessment. The Ign review at least didn't read like a frantic 14 year old writing a love confession to the captain of the football team.

uuummm The Bad= "Story does not pick up till the end". thats deff not worth a 9.0. i would only buy this game for tha fact that i cant waite to find out what happens. game play looks and feels good but i hate buying games that have poor story lines. untouchables111Could you name another game with such solid Hack-an-Slash gameplay AND a good story? The review explained that near the end Kratos shows another side from his boring revenge rant since GOW 1. All I needed to hear was that his character receives much more weight this time around. I'm simply sold. All I need was for Kratos to show that he grew up a little.

The fact that it says Kratos will show another side just tells me the story portion of the game will be solid. It's almost as if gamespots review tacked on some cons to go with the numerous pros.
I love how the game gets a great score and people still want to complain.GrandJuryyea, seriously lol it's still a really good score. at least the ps magazine gave it 5/5.... but then again they give alot of those XD

I meant that I don't think they're biased against the PS3. I don't know, nor do I care what they think of other platforms.wow. i think that was the most gushing gs review ive ever read. youd think from that read that the game got an 11. anyways, im glad it lived up to the hype. its a great score and gs seems to be less heavy handed with high scores this year, so that means it is truly a great game then.
[QUOTE="GrandJury"]I love how the game gets a great score and people still want to complain.DoomtimeHuman nature I guess. And being anonymous behind a keyboard makes it a lot easier. I haven't seen anybody complain about the review score yet. I was discussing the actual written portion on the review.

As far as story goes Gow has always been better than most. Games like onimusha/devil may cry/darksiders all had poorly put together crap stories. My main reason for playing Gow is the story its very exciting, I was on the edge of my seat all through Gow2.

I dunno...I thoroughly enjoyed DMC1's story. But for the most part, you're right, though I've never found GoW to be amazing story wise.
