I know this is a bit late since many of you have beaten God of War III already, but there's usually long gaps between my sessions of playing video games, especially those with a campaign like this.

Anyway, I just finished God of War III, and I was surprised at how soon the ending came. For the first two GoW games, I thought they would never end, and each of them (and do keep in mind, I am a really slow gamer) took me around 20 hours to beat. This one, however, took me a bit over 10 hours to complete. That's right, half as long as God of War II.

Did anyone else notice this? Shouldn't GoW III, as the final installment in the franchise, be the longest and most fleshed out? I had enjoyed the final boss fight, and was satisfied by the game's ending, but it seemed like it had come much too quickly, so I didn't get the full feeling of achievement as I had finishing the first two games.

What do all of you think? Was God of War III too short, or was it just as long as it needed to be as the last game in the trilogy?

I thought it was great, I just hate the fact that after you beat it you cant select what part of the game you want to replay (the samething with MGS4)

Personally, It dragged on and on... atleast for me. I couldn't even force my self to get the platinum due to the game sucking so much. (imo)

It was a little short around 9 hours on my first playthrough, wish it had been a few hours longer (at least 2 more) that's my only real complaint.

They probably had trouble ending the franchise. The first two were pretty epic, it's hard to follow up a series like that. Remember how well the first one was done, then to make it so much better the second time. What was left for them to do? They really played Kratos to death, basically. If you think about games and all their sequels, it's hard to follow up. Look at the GTA series - they had to change the main character every time & throw in other elements to make it interesting each time. Rockstar finally switched gears to RDR - imagine if they tried to make another GTA instead and how difficult that'd be.

They were all pretty short. About 8 hours playtime, maybe up to 10 for the first one. Thats why you should always play these games on the hardest setting.

Play on anything other than Spartan and it won't seem so short. You can't breeze through it easily on Titan or Chaos... heck even God difficulty isn't that easy in some areas.

The game was so awesome that afterwards you're left wanting more. Clocks in like most games at around a dozen hours though.

You are right. It was way too short. Despite the 10 hours of gameplay being really good, it left me disappointed that I paid $60 for such a short game.

it was short. would've loved more. I also didn't like the no trophy penalty for using the gods accessories you accumulate throughout the first playthrough. made me not want to use 'em even though I found 'em.

Meh. It was short compared to the other games but playing it on Titan difficulty I still encountered some spots of difficulty even for an avid fan of the series like myself. There were few if any daunting puzzles, and those usually take the most time for me on my first playthrough, I think maybe this kind of expanded accessibility towards new players coming into the franchise was what shortened it a bit for me. I finished in just about eight hours on my first play whereas the first and second games took about eleven and ten hours respectively

Indeed. Too short, maybe. Same as any normal adventure, yes. Took me about 11.5 hours the first time through. I am someone that makes sure to get everything though and pay attention to detail :P.

Yes, it was too short. I wish I only rented it. People in my area must've felt the same way because I only got $25 back 2 days afterwards from Gamestop. So $35 for a decent 9 hour game....could be worse I guess lol.

Yeah it did feel rather short, but I didn't expect it to be as long as the first two anyways, seeing how it takes longer to create the feats in III compared to the other two. I'm sure they probaably had a lot more they wanted to put in the game but just didn't have the time.

Well compared to the other GoW games, it was right on par with the length. I do wish though it was longer.

It was so good thats why I hated that it ended. its more fun than God of war 2 imo. No to be all over gamespot, but when the review had that it wasnt as diverse as god of war 2, i thought they were just hating, but its true. You'll backtrack thru some boring environments. I platinum it so i can justify selling it

simple just upgrade the blades and posidens rage and ur good. theres a trophy for it too if u beat the game under 5hrs

P.S where u get medusa's head and it asks u to kill all enemies by stoning them? all u have to do for 30min is use posidens rage and ull get enough orbs to max out ur magic and have a level 3 or 4 blades then continue on

yea only focus on the blades, and posidens rage, also if u have enough upgrade hades army as well, and u shouldnt have trouble beatin the game. ohh and before i forget, ONLY fight the enemies if u have to. if u can avoid them and move to the next stage do so. that way u can save some time

Ah her we go again. People if you want games that last more than 20 hours to finish then stop gaming or buy only RPGs. I recommend you FFXIII an RPG with more that takes 50 hours to finish. It is composed of lot's long distances walking, battles that can take half and hour, a lot of with with cheap talking and lots of grinding toward the end. For those who liked FFXIII: Don't get offended.

My 1st play through clocked in at 10:23:52 on normal mode. Not a trophy fan but i raked up 57% on my 1st play through. I actually decided to go for it all and now i stand at 31/36. I missing the hidden trophies, 1000 hit combo, Challenges(might take awhile) and Titan Mode(bout to beat that soon) Anyway,Yes it was SHORT. I mean i felt like these Gods and Titans went out so weakly. Posedion (if not misktaken) is the 2nd most powerful god and yet he goes out 1st. Then Hades. Helios and Hermes didnt put up much a fight. The Zues fight was weak compared to God of War 2 fight with Zues. And im sorry but the ending with Kratos killing himself was done weakly. After the credits roll(for those who stayed and watched it all), where did Kratos body go?

I thought God of War III was too short. And the game was just ok. To me it was like I've played the same game 3 times already (God of War 1,2, Chains of Olympus). I did give it a 9 out of 10 at the time that I platinumed it though. So at that time I must have thought it was awesome. But the game was short; too short. They could have put a lot more content in there in terms of story and game play.

To be honest I'm too lazy to check what the hidden trophies were. But I'm sure that they aren't hard. I think I got 80% of the trophies before resorting to a guide. I remember using the claws of hades and spamming the souls of hades. I think it was L1 + O. There's videos on youtube on how to do it.

it felt very well paced and 2 more hours of filler wouldve ruined that. obviously it would be nice to get 20+ hours of fast and varied gameplay, but few action games can really do that. the gow series doesnt have the deepest combat to begin with, so a fast (not short) and furious 10 hours is a good length especially after weve already had 2 games with similar gameplay.

I, personally, hate the "too short" argument. If you liked it, does length matter if it was good? I've never played a game and thought it was too short. Never. I'm not saying I'm right but that is my opinion on that argument.
