Have to back what up? My opinion?
LeifLongbottom
Yes, if you want to insist that the expansion packs of yesteryear hold just as much value as the dlc we got now.
So you want me to back up an argument that I never made?

It's funny. Back when add-ons were "expansion packs" that you bought on a seperate disc at the retailer everyone loved it. Now that it's DLC everyone thinks it's the worst thing to happen to video games.

There's a big difference between the expantion packs we got 15 years ago and the dlc we get now.
This I think is the best illustration of that:

There really isn't. The only difference is to people who get too worked up over this stuff.
Seems like that's what you're saying here.

What?
if u don't wanna feel like u own *half* a game then yea.. ya do... especially dlc's that involve extra guns, characters, ect cause it will drive u absolutely nuts wondering what your missing, and the big companies are counting on this, thats fvcked up..

Take this example, you go into a supermarket, you buy a 'Dolce Gusto Coffee Making Machine' but wait... Whats this!? I can't make coffee without specific 'Dolce Gusto' coffee packets!!! Argh!!! Downloadable Content XD Yeah I know, it's not the best example, but it's a sureway fire to prove the point that, if you think companies are actually going to care what you think about their money making schemes, then you my friend are in the wrong business. Hell, boycott them if you want to, but the gaming industry is a massive capatalist machine. So best of luck with that ;)
I've got to agree with Method in this, it's not going to change, and I don't know where you got the idea that DLC makes games half of what they are, take Fallout, Yes they had downloadable expansions, but I quite enjoyed the main game in itself. It's like Skyrim, if they decide to make an expansion (like they did with Oblivion) it will in no way detract from the fact that I enjoyed the sh*t out of it and it wasted a lot more hours in my life than it probably should have ;)
By all means, keep your opinion on the subject, but considering every developer in the gaming industry pretty much realeases downloadable content, your gonna have to get used to the idea =]
I used to obsess over trophies, but I've gotten over them now. No one really cares how many someone has, and in my opinion time is much better spent playing games purely for enjoyment then trying to earn meaningless digital items which are usually aggravatingly frustrating and time consuming to obtain.

thank you, someone understands and thinks the same way i do :P
First of all, I hope this is partly a joke post. If not, that's just sad.
Secondly, DLC trophies don't count toward the platinum. I've platinumed plenty of games without grabbing the DLC.
Third, your trophy list willstill say 100% completed. Just click on the trophy list and you'll see the list is divided between the actual game's list, and whatever DLC trophy lists there are. True, it'll still probably read 83% or so overall due to DLC trophy lists reading 0% factored in and divided but if you have the platinum, then people will obviously know you 100% the initial game.

Saved me the effort. Cheers! ;)

I guess you're forgetting that massive capitalist machines need people to buy their products in order to stay in business. I think the members of Bondi are remembering that for you. I know their dlc scheme was supposed to make them a lot of money but it turned me (and a few others I know) off to the game and it seems like they needed more people to buy that game.
The crappy thing is that the whole dlc mess with that game was probably more R*'s fault. The devs at Bondi probably didn't want their work all chopped up like that and if it had made R* a lot of money, those devs probably wouldn've seen a dime.

That there "really isn't" a difference between DLC we get now and Expansion packs we got 15 years ago.
Don't know if you're acting goofy or if you're really that thick but I'm assuming the latter.
[QUOTE="MethodManFTW"][QUOTE="NightStein"] That's not true, i bought it and i can't play beacuse the comic supposed to be on the disc has to be downloaded, of course i can still play with the standard options of ME1 but when you read on the back they mention the comic, so that's crap even if it's not a DLC at all.NightSteinWell yeah, that's an online connectivity issue, not a DLC issue.. I have used a non online console in years. My condolences for duders with consoles not connected to the interwebz. :( Np i'll save it for later, i'll surely get connection sooner or later, just thought i had to say that :P
