First off forgive me if people have asked similar questions (as I'm sure they have several times, especially when the PS3 first came out) I've glanced over the forums and seen people asking about specific monitors/tvs but, I haven't really found what I'm looking for.

I plan on purchasing the almighty PS3 soon and with it I'd like to get some sort of HD tv or monitor. It doesn't have to be the greatest, I just want the best that I can get for $400 or less. Even if it's only 720p, I don't mind. I just would like to hear some opinions from you guys before I make a purchase, as you probably know more than me as to what's good and what to look for. (contrast ratio, resolution, all that stuff)

Preferably 20" at least also. Just toss some tips out there for me please. Any suggestions would be greatly appeciated. Thanks...

You will need to get a computer monitor, and it certainly will not be "good" but it will get the job done.

I don't really care if it's great. I'm sure no matter what it will be better than my plain old tv I have now.

So a computer monitor. Yeah I figured as much, now if someone could suggest some specific ones, maybe with some links?

Like I said, I know it's not gonna be great for under $400. I just want the best that I can possibly get for under $400.

Try www.dell.com. They make cheap monitors that are not too bad. I think you are more than capable of doing a little research.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824112005

take a look at this, its a monitor rather than a tv but it supports hdtv apparently at 1080p, it also has built in speakers and it has hdmi port aswell.5ms is also a fast response time to prevent blur and it has good contrast too.it also has inputs for headset  etc which is good for gaming and is a decent size at 22" . plus its within ya price range.

Yeah that one looks very appealing. I've seen it several times tonight. The only thing that is really bugging me about it is the customer reviews. A lot of people say they died in a short amount of time or that the connections went out. I was also glancing at this one: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2411133&Sku=S197-2012&SRCCODE=GOOGLEBASE&CMP=OTC-GOOGLEBASE

I have a samsung 19" and it has DVI input which is HDCP compliant, so an HDMI to DVI would work, it has component and VGA as well, I don't remember what model, but go to samsung.com and look fior it, it's white, and is 19" 720p/1080i, beautiful picture clarity

Well Jechts and The_Jerm, thanks for your input. I'm really leaning toward that Sceptre from Newegg.com but if I get it I'll definitely be purchasing at least a 1 year warranty along with it.

that monitor is made by the same people so its likely that any connection issues will exist in this model too, besides this one isnt 1080p capable and it has poorer refresh rate and contrast ratio.plus it looks deeper and far less attractive and of cousre its smaller.id pick the other 1 from the 2.

Well will a 1 year warranty should cover any problems right? Or are they going to be gay and say that it doesn't qualify for replacement etc....

Just my two cents - unsolicited, but I would go with the 22" as it supports 1080p, which is what you really want anyway, right?

Good find, I'll be watching that monitor for myself ;)
