I was able to use a vita for awhile (not mine... $250 is a bit much for a handheld at the moment) and so far don't really get the complaining ppl are doing about the os... the problems aren't that big and can prob be fixed in a few months with updates. I thought it looked great and felt good in my hands, the graphics were good, build quality seemed great, etc. The main problems I had with it were: 1. Game prices are high, 2. a little long load times, 3. low battery life. I think those three problems are ones that can't really be fixed in the long term, and thus should be the ones that people look at when deciding whether or not to buy one.

Game prices are also the same on the other handheld as well. Game prices are not a Vita centric issue. The only reason I am pointing this out is because people complain about the Vita games being high in price when the new releases on the other system are just as high.

Actually they are not the same price on the OTHER handheld, all their top games are £29.99 here in the UK, whereas UC, FIFA, Dungeon Hunter, Rayman, Wipeout are more than £29.99. Plus the digital downloads varies greater than £29.99 for some of the top titles.

In the states most new 3DS games (say SML 3d and MGS3D) are $39. Most PSV games are... $39, with only Uncharted topping that at $49. Doesn't seem like a huge disparity.

On Amazon, its says that a top-tier game like UC is $49.99 and FIFA Soccer is $53.99 compared to SM3DL which is $37.99, MGS 3D which is $39.96, I think that is a huge difference and I am only talking in terms of top-tier games.

On Amazon right now I can get fifia for $38.18 or for $33.49 from a third party seller. Granted the prices change frequently. Nonetheless your arguement fails as far as the U.S. is conerned. Every other game besides Uncharted is $40 or less. Sorry to hear that prices suck in the U.K.

I'm speaking of retail here in the states. I don't take Amazon into consideration at all. At retail here, the game are pretty much the same on both platforms with very few exceptions.

It doesn't change the fact that $40+ for a handheld is crazy. The costs for making these games are nothing compared to pc or the consoles, so how can they justify charging so much? Because they need to recoup the money from the hardware and there is less competition, plain and simple.

Memory card prices maybe, game prices no. Have the prices of PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, PSP games dropped ? No. What makes you think Vita game prices will. The prices they're sold at are standard retail. Obviously over time individual game prices drop but they always start at normal retail. The current tier pricing $9.99 to $49.99 will remain with games priced at the appropriate tier.

I wouldn't say nothing... Uncharted has some amazing production values to it, and I'm sure it cost a pretty penny to develop. Only reason why the game goes for 50.

Seriously, you're not acting like a real gamer. Most games for dedicated gaming systems cost even millions to develop. We're not talking about those 2d simple games like Angry Birds and games with great graphics that are very simple and finished in an hour. Most of those games cost $1.99 to $4.99 for a reason. Go and try to find a game like Uncharted on a phone, or Gravity Rush.

Vita development kits are about 1900 euros, Sony has stated that costs are lower and less intensive than the psp (http://fudzilla.com/home/item/26006-sony-claims-vita-development-easier). I can't speak for the vita or any current gen console, but while in China this past fall studying Chinese one of my classmates was a part time designer for ubi who had worked on the psp and ps2 and various points and always pointed to the much smaller development teams and budgets of psp games. Vita could be different, but I highly doubt it. That isn't to say it is cheap to make, but does it cost anywhere near pc or ps3/360 games?
