GOW, 3/4 or 3/5 release?

Hi everyone,

I kept hearing that GOW: COO was scheduled for a 3/4 release date, but when I checked my local Best Buy and Circuit City fliers this weekend they said it would be available on Wednesday (3/5) at 2pm. Anyone know the story? Is 3/5 the new release date?

This is how I've been explained that game dates work (from my distributor).

Most Games don't have a real street/release date. What they have is an "availablity date" where any retailer/distributor can buy the product from them. So if the availablity date is 3/4 then it is taking a little over a day to get it shipped to them. Sad I know, I deal with this crap all the time as a rentailer. We actually get the games last it seems because I have to go through a middle man (where retailers get it shipped directly to their stores).

Some games do have real street dates where stores will actually have the product before the game releases (Halo 3 for instance was street dated). This is VERY rare and guess who you can thank for that......online retailers like gamestop or speciality shops. They have the most pull with game developers and have somehow convinced them not to take the street date that movie studios use and just got with this "availablity date". Of course the reasoning is because they'll get the product usually before any of the traditional retailers do.

Went to my Gamestop today in Philadelphia. Talked to one of the employees that happens to be a friend of mine and he assured me they will have their copies tomorrow. Still remains to be seen, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.mezztro113

preordering only guarantees that you get a copy in the first place...it absolutely has nothing to do with when stores will officially have it in stores.
