Actually, Dark Sector has gotten 1 review, albeit it's really short: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yr8b5YbimR0
As for Viking, I wasn't expecting much. It had "average" written all over itself.

I'm with you on this. I am going to try Viking anyway as I kind of like the look of it. But then I go with my own feelings rather then let reviews divtate them for me, they are good for guidelines sure, but everyones taste is different.So...because one website gives a game an average review, it's suddenly garbage? Doesn't anyone think for themselves anymore? Go rent it. If it sucks, don't buy it. If it's fun, then you're not paying $60 blind.
Don't be so quick to bury a game that HASN'T RELEASED YET.

My thoughts exactly from both of those quotes^ I'll probably give it a play through no matter what the web ratings may be. I'd prefer to form my own judgements.
Team xbox gave it an 8.2, so who knows, it seems to me like anohter assassins creed, only there is no huge marketing push for it that creates fanboys for it to hide the fact that your doing the same thing over and over again and that the game is not that good.I just read the IGN review (which I find more reliable than the GS reviews these days), and they gave it a 6.3! I heard people hyping this game like it would be so awesome. I love it! What did you people think of when you saw footage, previews, etc?

I guess I should say Haha! Im still going to play it. I find myself trusting IGN and Gamespot's reveiews less and less, and basically only trusting the voice of gamers who have actually played the games and dont get paid to do so.

I would trust gamer opinions more if the majority of them had a marginal grasp of English, and a lower proclivity for exclamation points and 1337 speak. Not to mention that if you look at user reviews of games, the gamers that like them tend to give 9.0 and higher just to up the rating, whereas those who don't like the games tend to give 2.0 and below for the opposite reason; neither scores truly reflect how good/bad the user felt the game was.
User reviews can be just as bad or worse than professional publications. I'll take what I can from both camps, and formulate my own opinion.
[QUOTE="BioShockOwnz"][QUOTE="hillelslovak"][QUOTE="XxAnubisxX"]haha, hahaha, ha... yeah well I wasn't sure cuz i just looked into it for afew minutes thinking, it may be a cool concept and I'll wait and see what the reviews are for it... sure enough another low-rate game... still have a high hope for dark sector tho... but we will have to see on that one too.hillelslovak
I hear that. I really hope Dark Sector is a great game. Im tired of super hyped flops.
It'll be a 7.0-8.0, so don't act like I didn't warn you. If you let yourself get hyped up with every game, then every game will end up disappointing in one way or another. Chill on the hype and expect games to be good, but never great. These so-called great games (Halo 3, Uncharted) are nothing more than good games to me.
When you lumped Uncharted with Halo 3, you're opinion became irrelevant.....
As a Xbox360 and PS3 owner HALO 3 was horrible. All HALO 3 was HALO 2 in HD. And there are games out there that have had bad reviews and are still good games in the eyes of the players. People have to stop relying on game reviews and start making up there own minds. And I guess I don't understand why everyone keeps saying this belongs in System Wars... Viking is a multi-plat release.2headedhawaiian
Sorry if my posts was a little unclear, I should have said that this kind of mentality belongs in SW (see my previous post for explanation). I have no problem with people discussing a game that they think will be trash, it's just the way the OP has gone about doing so that anoys me.

Understood. Carry on.

You cant stop can you....reviews are like crack to you arent they? You did this same **** with Dark Sector, I dont think anyone cares what the reviews say...the only time a review matters to me is when it is done by users...I think if Half-Life got under a 7.0 you wouldnt have it as a icon would you, in fact you would most likely do something just down these lines right? Please hillelslovak open up a new forum and make it worth my 10 seconds of my life ! P.S. Its great after you made those remarks on Dark Sector that now you are pretty much hyping it on every single one of youre post !
Dark Sector hasnt even gotten 1 review yet. I was not hyping it or dogging on it, I merely said that I thought it could flop. On the same token, it could do really good, and Id like to buy a new game this week that isnt crap. And for the record, this forum isnt as much dogging on Viking as its giving a big STFU to the people Ive come across that act like its gonna be the best game ever, and hype it up like there's no tomorrow. And Im not a Half Life fanboy, I just love the games, and the Half Life games dont get bad ratings because theyre quality games. So, my good friend, STFU.....
Lol who in the sam **** did you come across that said Viking was going to be the best game ever, it was hyped !? Also you know it might be the best game ever to some people :P, the guy who did the review might not like hack & slash games so he thought it sucked but what if someone else did a review who liked hack & slash games? P.S. you act like the reviews are completely right when in most cases anymore they are quite the opposite...and about STFU if you cant handle me speaking my mind than dont even bother opening up forums my friend ...

True, true... many times games that are hyped to be GREAT are rarely great, they usually almost always turn out good...
Now I may look into Rainbow Six Vegas 2 or uncharted... I wish uncharted would drop in price tho

lol. Wows. The OP said let it die. That's a new one. This week is looking awesome already. :P
Ive heard quite a few people on the forums saying how they thought Dark Sector would be really good, but they'll get Viking because its gonna be the best game of the year so far. And many comments like that.hillelslovak
What kinda so called gamer is happy when a game flops???Jacboy71
This one. I hate when crappy/sub-par games make millions in contrast to REAL gems.
Innovative games flop while the crappy ones prosper.
Wow dude, your argument has more holes in it than the freakin titanic. First off, as so many others have said, there's no way any game can be considered a "flop" from one little review and much less before it is even in most peoples hands. Your stating that it's a flop because of an IGN review is just as relevant as someone stating it's great from a GS review.
Next on the list of your flaws: You yourself said something along the lines of not just counting one review, but the reviews overall to judge whether a game is worth buying, such as "metacritic". Well it's a sad day for your early jump to judgement, since Metacritic has Dark Sectore at only 0.1 points ahead of Viking, and when you look at which one has the higher individual scores, it's *gasp* Viking.
Oh, last thing: you make a remark like you did about Uncharted being compared with Halo 3 in overhype, and how Uncharted was way better, even citing that critics liked Uncharted better. Well buddy, you'd better check your Metacritic again, because Halo 3 has your Uncharted beat 94-88. Seems critics liked the other game better.
Point is, you can't run around screaming the "relevance" of critics when it suits your point, and discard it when it hurts you and your opinion. It's one or the other. Oh, and you should probably think more before you speak in the future, and by "think" I mean wait until more than 1 review is out the day before a game is released before you start screaming "FLOP" to the world, especially when comparing it to another mediocre game.
'Nuff said.
