Metal Gear Solid wasn't the deepest game in the world either. Aside from 2 extra items and a different ending, basically every playthrough was the same. Still kept people occupied for months though.

Bit hint. Metal Gear has one of the best stories in video games period.

Andheavenly sword was also marked very highly for its stroyline.

Why is everyone getting so defensive? all im saying is Metal Gear solid was an amazing game, and it has plenty of parallels with HS, so don't write it off just yet.

I remember I finished Metal Gear like at 12 or 13 hours...MGS is not a 6 hour game

For all i know this game may not be good (although i suspect it will be AA), but i beg ppl to not be put off by the apparent 6-8 hours length!! I've played games which had reviews like this before: good but too short. I never regret getting them- its quality not quantity and i'm guessing that the replay value will be high. This game has been too hyped and the graphics look too good to not get.

I dont see how people actually ever finish any game in like 6 hours unless you rush through it, but thats YOUR fault for not trying to figure some other stuff out like how to do all the combos find some hidden items if there are any. Also there are unlockables so that should keep you busy. The 6 hour game limit is only if your a person who just rushes through a game thats it, not taking time to get things and just finding 1 combo that works and spamming it like many noobs do. Me on the other hand on the button pressing part ( you know when you have to press the corresponding button on the screen) im going to play again just to see what happens if you happen to press the wrong button. That'll keep me occupied for a while :D

And one more thing sometimes when you lose you'll get like a dieing cut scene which you'll miss some of them are quite humorous but most people dont know about those.

thats a terrible comparision. Even once you beat MGS you probably have to play it at least once more to understand the story. And for all intents and purposes, that game is similar to a sandbox game. You have a ton of weapons and tactics and ways to interact with the environment that allows you to enjoy the game simply by dicking around. Putting C4 on an enemy's back, stuff like that...

Besides, MGS has a ridiculous amount of FMV and the story is 10x more complex than Heavenly Sword.

The Heavenly Sword demo was decent but not jaw-dropping. For a 6 hour game, it better have an unbelievable amount of enjoyment in those 6 hours to justify spending 60-70 bucks on it.

Well since its not out yet, no one can say for certain whether it does or not. Im not saying it will be as good as Metal Gear Solid, all im saying is it is possible for a short game to have enough enjoyment to warrant the money, and that its not right that people are writing it off as a failure before its even been given a chance.

The first play is ten hours. The second time you can beat MGS in as little as 4 hours.

Still an amazing game. People need to stop focusing on numbers of hours and other such nonsense. Gears is 7 hours long, didn't matter cause it was so much fun to play.

Sony's been cramming so many damn "making of" movies, animated movies, and trailers for this game down our throats, I'm already burnt out on it without playing the actual game. The way too short disappointing demo didn't help either.WhiteStormy

I think a longer demo would have generated more hype. Or at least include one of the bazooka levels.

Honestly what were they thinking? Even stranglehold gives you a whole level to play through.

What are you talking about? First, I was talking about the the first three MGS games. And if you think the next MGS game will be any different, you're wrong. It will have a lot of FMV and of course the story is going to be complex, the story is always complex with MGS, not to mention they have to wrap up the series.

Really?? you must have had a super steep learning curve. the cut scenes put together was probably longer than the actual game play. Luckily there was the vr missions. So i see many people have fallen to the suggestion that a 6 hour game is not worth anything. lemmings. nobody remembers god of war, gears of war, shadow of the colossus, half life 2. many great games are only 6-8 hours.

Gaming is getting more expensive, but actually that's about normal for an action game. Most FPS games are about the same length for the single player campaign, some even less. If you want more bang for your buck stick to RPGs or games with an online component.
