ok, first, dont discuss CFW, or any hack versions of the psp dude, not allowed,
anyway, if you already have the 2000 stick with it, the scanlines are still there and its bad, and the screen is not that good, you still cant play outside that well.

i heard the opposite, but this is why it's called a forum

The opposite of what? That CFW talk is allowed, or that the scanlines really AREN'T that bad? :)
Didn't mean to offend anybody talking about CFW. I won't mention it again.

basically, the psp 3000 is a great choice, but many won't find that it's worth upgrading from the 2000.
if your getting a PSP for the first time, the PSP 3000 is the obvious choice.
people claim scan lines appear on low res games (like with sprites), but you can turn of the 3000's special screen if this bothers you, and play on the normal screen setting (the one that 2000 uses).
otherwise i hear the screen is pretty sweet.
Hi guys. I just signed up to this place because I have serious concern.
I recently got my first PSP, a PSP 2000. I like it so far, the only thing that bothered me when I first got to try it out, was the ghosting on the screen.
I have heard a lot about the new PSP 3000. The only thing that interests me, is the screen. I read that it is said to have a double as good response time, which should reduce ghosting, and have an anti-glare screen.
I have some questions to those of you, who has tried PSP 3000.
1. Has the ghosting problem really disappeared/been minimized, or is it just gibberish?
2. How about the scanlines? Are they really as bad as a lot of people are saying it is?
3. Is the screen really more playable in the sun, or is it just a false claim from Sony?
If the new screen really is better in terms of ghosting, and the interlacing really aren't that a big problem, I would be ready to return my PSP 2000 and get the 3000 instead. I would have no problem sacrificing CFW, for a smoother screen and better anti reflection in the sun (i play on the train on my to work). Besides, CFW will come to the 3000 sooner or later.
There is no place I have been allowed to try the 3000, and the crappy videos on youtube doesn't really tell me much, so I really hope I can get some feedback from this place!
Thank you so much
Best

i don't know much about the ghosting problem in psp2k,koz i don't hv one. But my psp3k working just fine
scanlines aren't that bad actually, but the worst thing is that it's not playable in the sun, totally false claim..
if i were u,i'll stick to my psp2k and wait until Sony release another version of psp(PSP4000/PSP2 maybe)
hey man i wouldnt listen to people who are talking about the 3000 when they in fact havent tried this unit out,,and most people are zooming in to point out scan lines. I tried one of these units out ( which my buddy has) and immediately noticed the difference between the vibrant colors on the 3000 and the more washed out screen of the 2000, arguably when you zoom in, in slow motion you apparently notice the lines but when I was playing it I actually did not notice them. If you set it to wide screen you will really notice the screens difference and when you go play your older 2000 model you will definately realize the overall difference. My personal verdict,
in a lab or in a blown up image scan lines noticeable,, but they werent to me when playing a normal game...
build quality feels better on this unit all around, just felt better put together and the buttons were more firm,,
so if your in the mkt for a new one Id go with the 3k if youve got a 2k i wouldnt upgrade,, thats like buying a new computer for just the monitor..
if you have a 1000 i would upgrade if you have the cash or let the 1000 die and buy the 3k
but you will notice the difference between the 3k screen and 2k screen, in which case the 3k screen pwns..
Â
just my opinion after playing with it.
