Mine just had a blu ray disc failure yesterday. I was wondering how many of you on the forums have ad your PS3's fail. And if so, how long did the return process take to get your PS3 back? I just got a message from SCEA America saying that theyre shipping the box to return the PS3 in. How long should it take?
Sorry to hear that your PS3 had a blu-ray disc failure, my Nowegian freind had the same problem and instead of sending it too sony he sent it to a shop and he hasnt got it back after 8 months. Me and him reckon that guy at the shop took it apart or just fixed it and sold it.
had my 60gig since launch.. still in working condition.. freezes a little more frequently than when it was still new, though it hasn't died yet *knock on wood*
Yeah, my 60GB PS3. Display resolution malfunction. Reset trick no longer worked either. So it wasn't playable on any display and/or format. Took a break from PS3 and Xbox 360 for a while, mainly PC gaming. I'm looking to get another PS3 near the release of Killzone 2 and Resident Evil 5, and I'll be sure to pick up Resistance 2 as well. More gaming for me.
I've been seeing a lot of these topics recently, I think the PS3's failure rate is a lot higher than Sony would have us believe. Mine is fine but the USB ports randomly decide not to recognize anything sometimes.
Mine broke before, and it took a month to send it to sony and get it back. (mostly because the console they sent me a faulty console the first time 'round. I sent it back and I got the Ps3 I currently have in my room).
never had a system break down until i owned 360 for a few months. got tired of sending it in every 3 weeks so i bought ps3. NO problems since - got a 20gb from release

Well mine has never broke .. 60 GB launch system .. still running strong ..
But from what I've read man, it doesn't take too long to get it back .. like maybe no longer than 2 weeks (10 Business days) .. but you never know .. sorry to hear about your PS3 man ..

yea my PS3 broke but it was my own fault good thing i had a best buy warranty ill be getting the 160GB in a few days but no Backwards compatibility :cry:
"Has your PS3 broke ever?" -Yes....twice, actually. >:( Once, it just stopped turning on, and Sony sent us a new one in about a week or two. Then, just today, while it was getting a system update, the video-card blew up. >:( Now the problem isn't that it won't turn on, but instead, it won't turn off and there's no picture or anything. >:(
