Have PS3 fail rates gotten better recently?

you would think with all the technology and money that goes into game systems that they would work better be more reliable and not fail and break so much.

im thinkin of getting a PS3 but wanted to know about the fail rates and how reliable the Ps3 actually is before laying down all the money for one? i want it to lastand not fade out in a few months

I don't know but I will tell you this I bought the 60 gig launch ps3 it went down around aug 4. I spent 40 bucks on a new power supply maybe 18 minutes to swap it out and it's working great again.

I hope not, because the warranty for my ps3 phat ends next month.

Take a look on ebay-There's plenty of broken ones for sale,blu ray drive broken,yellow light of death,seem to be main problems.So there are problems with a few,but that didn't put me off buying my 2nd-New Phat 80GB PS3 2 weeks ago.
