Not that you would do it with intent, but my Resistance disc is stil crisp and fine with nothing else but fingermarks on it. I could have a PS2 game scratched within a day. I heard there was a special coating on it or something.

I've gotten some movies from Blockbuster online that had some minor scratches, but still played fine.  I have only received one movie from them that would not play, and it did not really have any scratches, but appeared to have some kind of oil type film on it.  I tried to clean it off, but could not get it to play anyway.

i always take good care of my disc's... and now you guys tell me i don't have to? wuuh!

*jumps around on the Roof throwing BD disc's everywhere*

But nah. i haven't tried to scrats them just to find out. and drop a disc doesn't really do anything on a carpet :S it's not like my carpet is made out of knifes. i think i have ONE game, that maybe has a serious scrats. but.. it's a PS1 game., so im not worried.

Blu ray discs have a special coating which reduces scratches, however if you do scratch a blu ray disc it's a gonna. Unlike DVD's/CD's which can be repaired in certain circumstances (see link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blu_ray#Hard-coating_technology)

i take all posible precautions to not stratch or get finger prints on my disks. i like them to be perfect. i just dont understand how someone can pay so muhc money for something and the jsut stick thier fingers all over it or jsut lay it down face first. not saying anyone here does, but some do. its just odd.

No scratch marks yet. Although I have been very careful when handling the disc, not because is a blu-ray disc but a force of habit. :P

Not sure if it's the coating or the disk but take a PS3 disk and a PS2 (or any other systems) disk and look at them, the other disk is kind of relfective but the PS3 is literally like a mirror, it's crazy... Sony must have been like, "but what if you want to check your hair before you play...", then " yeah, well we could make the disks double as mirrors", finally, "making disks double as mirrors... BRILLIANT!".

But no, not sure you can scratch them deep enough to mess anything up without really trying.

Did you attack it with a machete? But seriously, since the games are written so compact, that even a small scratch could render your disc unusable, thus enter scratch resistant layer.

No, I just left it outta the case on either a chair, table, or TV. Face up, most of the time.

I know, I was only joking with you, but you should take better care. If it gets scratched in the wrong place then it could screw up your whole disc!

If diamonds can get scratches, I'm pretty sure just about anything in the world can be scratched. So don't be rubbing things on it lol.

Anyway, none of my Blu-Ray disc games are scratched. It does look like it is scratched though thanks to my finger prints.

me and my friend were playing NHL2K7 and we were about to take it back when i remembered about this coating

so i wanted to perfrom tests on this 'rental disk' so i got a nail and exacto knife and scratched away we did

put it in the PS3 and i kid you not IT STILL READ IT AND PLAYED PERFECTLY!

**not endorsed by myself or sony try at own risk**

Duh! The protective coating for a BD disc is about 50x to 100x stronger than the coating found on a DVD disc BUT it's NOT scratch proof.

I shot a nine-millimeter round into a BD disk, and it crippled the bullet. No mark. Not even a scuff. AMAZING!

Nothing is unscratchable dude. Except for diamond or any of those 'millions of years to form' compounds.
