I was planning on buying it, but the beta left me disappointed. I'm going to cancel my preorder tomorrow.
Yeah I'm probably overreacting to the beta, but there's so many other games coming out I figured may as well save some money and pass on this. Honestly, between Dark Souls, LOTR: War in the North, COD: Modern Warfare 3, Uncharted 3, TES: Skyrim, and AC: Revelations, I'm getting way too many games as it is.

Heck, "Skyrim" alone is 'too much game' to be buying anything else!
I actually sold all of my games to finish paying for this and to pick up Dark Souls. I am getting it on Xbox (to play with me amigos). The beta you played is no representation but a demonstration of the play mechanics. The fact that people cannot graps that concept is absurd. Its three month old code. The fact that people will buy yet another COD game, which still uses the same engine and character animations, is the saddest thing I have seen in my young life. People have no taste anymore. To buy something not just rehashed but re re rehashed is not even funny, i mean it is a little but this is no time for laughing. It must be a "go with what you know" kinda thing. To simple mindedly run around and have no point but to kill them mmore than they kill you? No depth, no fun, no moments where you go up to a friend and say hey. While trying to defend A i shot two dudes and then shot down a plane which crashed into a tank.
I'm gonna do the same thing I did when BLOPs came out -
Go pick up "Operation Flashpoint: Red River" (I got "Dragon Rising" last time, though, and for $15). I really liked "Dragon" amd it reminds me of "IL*2 Sturmovik" because, unlike a lot of games which have dumbed down the process (CoD) and taken things to an almost cartoon level, you can turn off all the aids, and see how long you'd survive under more realistic scenarios or conditions. They don't hold your hand, they give you a topographic map, objectives, and weapons, The rest is very much up to you. And like "Demon's Souls", you die. A LOT. And wearing headphones, when you're hit with a bullet to the mellon, you go down with a sickening, loud bang and that's it. Darkness. You might have been fighting cover to cover for 45 min. and just wind up a quivering husk with one bullet from a sniper outside 200m.
When you finish a mission with all objectives met on Hardcore mode, you'll definitely know some satisfaction.
The game is not without fault, I will admit, but it CAN be as close to an actual firefight and maneuvres than you'd ever hope to know in real life if you set up the difficulty correctly. And in an era where regen health and 5 hour campaign modes *koff* "Medal of Honor" *koff* have made us go more and more soft, it's nice to be challenged. Even warts and all, "Flashpoint" provided me with a good game last time, I can't see why I wouldn't enjoy the new one (Carol P's review was positive enough). The price will drop ridiculously when BF3 and MW3 come out and I can play "Red River" whilst waiting for those two games to iron out their bugs.
I like being a late adopter, the prices are great and all the functional patching is done.
:D
That's where the game has sent me, anyway.
I'm sure the fans of BF will get plenty to enjoy out out of BF3.
I originally reserved it for PC, found out my lap top can't play it so reserved it for ps3 as well incase I didnt have a better gaming pc buy launch. I played the beta on my ps3 and I think I'm gonig to cancel both pre orders. Not because I thought the game was bad or looked boring, but I can't really play a game like battlefield 3 with a controller. I had funplaying the beta but, I have gotten so used to using a mouse and keyboard on FPS that it just doesnt feel the same with a control. Im still thinking if I should cancel both version and put the money towards Uncharted 3 or just cancel the pc version for now and still buy the ps3 version.
I changed my mind on purchasing BF3 after discovering it's to have Online pass which is an automatic pass for me
bf3 beta turned me off because of the gameplay. It was just plain boring. Rage will keep me busy now.
I have noticed that people on this thread and many other articles...etc regarding the BF3 beta keep saying something along the lines of "I hope/they will fix all the bugs/problems by release." My question is, does nobody understand the idea of a "beta"? In case some don't, here we go. A "Beta" is an early incomplete build of software (though not as early as an "Alpha") that is usually used to test certain aspects of said software like compatibility, connectivity....etc. It is in a sense "intentionaly" full of problems. A beta is not to be confused with a demo, which is the complete build of a game but only a portion of the whole is available for your trying pleasure. Another thing is that in the case of BF3, DICE made it very clear that the beta was to test server integrity and was not representative of the final product.
To simplify, the product is already finished and you are playing a crappy old version of it. Therefore, of course it's full of bugs.

Don't talk down to us. We're far from stupid and your patronizing, BS attitude towards your fellow forum members and their understanding of what a Beta consists of is not appreciated.

True that. And the more I play Dark Souls, the more I realize it's going to take a lot longer to beat than Demon's Souls did. Dang it developers, why does the fall have to be so good for games? I could have used some games during the deadbeat summer.
even with all i've heard of the multiplayer beta, all this time i've been more interested in the campaign, so it hasn't changed my view on buying it in the least

Though it's been the other way around for years, I wish the gaming industry would take a cue rom Hollywood and start to release a few killers in the "off-season" summer months so that yes, we don't have such a clown-car of titles that hit from November to December. Honestly it's a bit overwhelming and gets worse every year. "What is gonna get my money?"
That is really what's whittled down my interest in BF3. There are too many other games I wanna devote limited time to. It just doesn't seem like as strong a title as I had initially hoped - Beta conditions or not.
^This[QUOTE="Weenski"][QUOTE="hkymike"]Uncharted 3 ..... Much more enjoyable in both the SP and MPtoddx77
Im thinking about canceling the pre order for my ps3 version as well and putting the money from the pc and ps3 preorder towards my uncharted 3 one.
Would be a smart move. U3's MP is awesome, and we all know ND is going to nail the Campaign.
And the mode that people forget is the Co-op modes. Oh man those were fun and hard.

I played the beta and it was really fun and I prefer single player over multi and I know the story is going to be amazing. I have come to terms that pretty much any military shooter today is going to focus on multi player and not really focus on a story so Im not holding my breath with BF3 or MW3. Atleast with Uncharted 3 you know for sure your going to get a good story.

I'm sorry, have I offended your sensibilities? Here....have a banana....maybe that will cheer you up!
No one should be changing their mind after playing a multiplayer beta, besides, its the single player that's where BF3 will shine more, it'll be epic.
I have to agree with you there. As I've gotten older I've found myself more and more interested in the SP rather than MP. Maybe I'm just jaded, but I can't justify spending $60 on games anymore. I'll give BF 3 a rental for sure though.even with all i've heard of the multiplayer beta, all this time i've been more interested in the campaign, so it hasn't changed my view on buying it in the least

No problem. Just put that banana where I think you can figure out to put it, and we're clear. I'm sure you're used to things up there.
:)
Nope, Still getting the BF3.
I recall playing the BFBC2 Beta and the graphics were grainy and communication over the mic was bad. I got the full retial game on the day of relase and the game was amazing. Beta for BF3 was released on the 27/29th of September and the Alpha was running for Pc users a while back. They are testing thier dedicated servers to notice these problems.
I saw the recent released videos and written previews about people who played an updated version of the game and it shows that non of the problems in the BETA are still there.
Check the Link Below:

I finally got Origin to work on the PC, I think now I'll get the PC version of BF3. FB2 engine runs very smoothly on my PC with Ultra settings, it looks extremely sweet and having a total of 64 players made the game so much more action packed and intensive.
I'll save the PS3 for Uncharted 3, Batman and Ace Combat AH.

Ah...Now aren't we being a cheeky little monkey! I expected something slightly more sophisticated and slightly less childish from you, to tell the truth. Oh well...simple minds, simple things I guess.
Except for the fact that Battlefield is a multiplayer eccentric game and always has been. I'm sure the singleplayer will be fun but it most certainly won't be worth $60.No one should be changing their mind after playing a multiplayer beta, besides, its the single player that's where BF3 will shine more, it'll be epic.

Oh don't get all mad or high-browed just because you left the net and the forward got an easy shot, please. It was a joke. We're all friends here. Hence, the smiley-face.
