All the High def mumbo jumbo confuses me somtimes. With its I's and P's all over the place WTF!

But im not posting for a fact file, there is a question i want answered and im pretty sure the PS3 forum will be able to answer is pretty quickly. Im even gonna throw in a poll to see where i stand

I looking to pay hmmm about £200 for a HD TV most of which will be 720p. Is that still pretty good for PS3 play? i know the 1080 is a hell lot better but im not exploding with money right atm so what do you guys think

720p and a PS3 yay or nay?

If you can suggest any HD's around my low **** price range please post em

Thats the beast im looking to buy after my PS3,

Thanks For reading!

Thats not so good, If you could muster another £150 you could get a much better 32inch TV with HDMI, 720p and 1080i

I recommend you wait a little while and add to your funds, dont give in yet.

*edit* 720p is great btw, Motorstorm looks fantastic.

Yea i went for the one at comet becuase

A) Price is pretty good for a new HD TV

B) Comet live close by so i could save the wait and pick it up, i could also go over there and see/try before i buy

C) Its 19 inch, yea its no 32 inch HD killing MO fo, but my room is quite small (2nd smallest in the house) and ive measured

up the size and it practically slots into my room lol

So im getting the idea 720p is ok, seeing 3 out of 7 voted for 720 on the poll at this point & as a final comment to help you understand my posistion, i currently have a 16 inch TV thats all! Becuase this price is nice and low i will be bale to save up and buy it quickly after buying my PS3

For something that small, all you need is 720p. You will need 1080p when the TV is bigger than about 42". For you, 720p is more than fine. I say if you are happy with the size and price, go for it.

I run 720p on a 55inch LCD and it looks fine. You just need to have more distance between you and the TV as the size increases. About 10feet on a 55inch is fine by me.

im in college and couldnt afford an expensive tv either. got a sharp 20 in LCD 720p and it is very nice. i got it on sale for only $315 (about $475 normally) and it has hdmi and everything else i need. i just walked into a store unexpectingly and there it was on clearance like a gift from god. i suggest you just look around for a while, the prices are dropping and sales going on all the time. patience will do you good. im very pleased with my purchase. good luck!

I have a 720p HDTV and the PS3 looks great on it. 1080p rendered content is sent to my HDTV as 1080i and 720p rendered stuff just stays 720p. Everything looks really good. If you have the money, get 1080p. Otherwise, you'll be perfectly happy with 720p. Especially if you are going 50" or less.

So 720p should be nice for my PS3, As long as it looks as good as most of the gamespot gameplayim happy (i dont mean that small lol)

But yea im gonna look around but i need to expand asap after buying my PS3, my PS3 might download some legs and run away from my 16 inch tv (if you can call it that)

Keep the advice and compares coming

Product suggestions also welcome :-)

I always played in 720p for my 360 on a 26" and when I chose 1080i I couldn't see any difference. Most will say 720p is better than 1080i. I had my PS3 in 720p then I changed to 1080i and the letters and icons looked slightly crisper. So I have the resolution check list on my PS3 on all 576p, 720p and 1080i. The XMB stays in 1080i and the games that support 1080i will play in 1080i and the games that supports 720p max the tv will change to 720p. You can't see the difference with the games when you play in either 720p or 1080i and you can't tell if the game is running in interlaced or progressive.

"P" will always be better than "I" There is an argument over which looks better 720p and 1080i...well, for fast moving scenes (video games namely racing) 720p is better than 1080i. 1080p rules them all...ONLY if you have a big enough screen to appreciate it (were talking at least 42-50 inches)
