So I just bought a Rocket Fish HDMI PS3 Cable. I am doing what my friend told me to do. I am plugging in the cable and then holding the power button on my PS3 down for 5 seconds and then when it says "Your PS3 has detected an HDMI cable would you like to output audio and video from it?" I say yes. Then the screen goes black. What am I doing wrong? Please help this really getting frustrating!

Usually when it goes black that means it can't output that resolution. Try doing it manually.

here goes a shot in the dark but, when you get that message that says it ha detected an hdmi cable, are you using the composite cables that came with the ps3? if so, then after you click yes to the option to switch, hit the input button on your tv to the correct hdmi(assuming you have more than 1 hdmi input).

if that is not the case and you are not using the cables that came with the ps3 and instead have it plugged into the tv directly through hdmi only... then something is screwy
