you'd think they would since they provide a ethernet cable why not a HDMI one too but i guess they want you to spend the money not them.
buy one get the sony one for $60 at best buy with usb2.0 cord417alumor be smart and get some 3 dollar ones....
Unfortunately, Sony doesn't ship HDMI cables with PS3s. Sorta sucks, but it's not a deal breaker.
As for what HDMI cable to buy: Get the cheapest one possible. There is absolutely no difference in quality between a $90 Monster brand HDMI cable and a $3 no-name cable manufactured in the back alley of some Chinese electronics shop.
HDMI carries a digital signal. It is either on, or it is off. There's no such thing as signal loss on HDMI as there could possibly be on an analog cable such as composite or component. If the cable works, it is working at 100% and you are getting the best picture possible over HDMI. The only bad thing that could happen with an HDMI cable would be if it didn't work. You will not get a degraded signal over HDMI, the signal will simply not show up at all.
Don't let anybody tell you anything otherwise, because they are either lying or delusional (or both!) that a $90 HDMI cable puts out a better signal than a $3 one. All this stuff about oxygen-free cable, xenon wrapping, "pure" copper, gold connectors...none of that matters on HDMI. You will get the same exact picture on your set no matter what HDMI cable you use.

I personally own these and they work stunningly well. No need to pay for overpriced brand names like Sony and Monster.
You don't need monster cables, but you didn't buy a $400 - $700 game system just to buy a dollar store cable. Go get the $ 20 - 35 cable. The cheap cables they keep trying to get you to buy work, at first. After a while, you're risking your game system / HDTV.

I've had these for a year and my PS3 and TV work exactly the same as they did from day one. People like this just try to scare you.

lol, how could an HDMI cable be a "risk to your gamesystem/HDTV." If anything, the cable just simply wouldnt work. Buying any HDMI cable for more than $10 means youre getting ripped off, plain and simple.

IF you knew anything about how cables are made or how shielding worked, then you might actually have a clue. But as it is, you don't.[QUOTE="Achaean728"][QUOTE="brotherreese"][QUOTE="Duckman5"]or be smart and get some 3 dollar ones....[QUOTE="CosmoKing7717"][QUOTE="417alum"]buy one get the sony one for $60 at best buy with usb2.0 cordbrotherreese

IF you knew anything about how cables are made or shielding worked, then you might actually have a clue. But as it is, you don't.You are right that shielding makes a difference for electromagnetic interference - and yes it could prevent static shock over a lesser cable so I am going to guess that's the way you mean it could damage your system or TV - however the chances of that actually occuring are HIGHLY unlikely. However I do believe the better insulated and better shielded cables will last longer - but I haven't ever heard of a cheaper cable being the cause of damage to anyones TV or system.
In theory you are correct though - given the right set of circumstances you could pass static electrictiy through a lesser shielded cable resulting in a "mini-surge" and that in turn could theoretically cause damage to your equipment I guess.
I just don't think that's likely or common.
I would agree with the people who are saying go middle of the road - around $30 for a 6 foot cable will give you ample insulation and shielding - anything like the Psyclones with triple hyperthreaded mylar and titanium ladee da is complete overkill and a waste of money IMO.
However the $6 cable with tinfoil wrapped around the inside could as you have pointed out result in an electrostatic charge being transferred to the system (again - in theory though I have never heard of anyone having an issue with it).
The best bet for digital is just a medium grade cable.
FYI - You can get the SONY official 6' one for like $25 used at your local GameCrazy.
