HDMI is as good as it gets. for video or sound, component and digital optical audio are fine choices, but they are not as goo as HDMI.  This of course assuming you have the equipment to take full advantage of it.  If you don't have a reciever capable of supporting HDMI audio, then I might almost suggest going with the component and digital optical audio, simply because you will miss too much audio quality if your surround sound cannot support HDMI, and component video will still keep up the video end respectibly.

HDMI is the best connection for audio. Without this connection, you are NOT enjoying the ps3 to all of its abilities.

component and optical out are just as good. you won't see or here much difference between hdmi and component and optical out. Hdmi is just 100% digital. Most Movie freaks even think it's too digital. Component and optical is a VERY good choice.

No it doesn't support HDMI, but even if it did, you cannot convert HDMI and still get HDMI quality, you need HDMI cables going into HDMI connections, and if your TV doesn't support it, it wouldn't matter even if the reciever did (It doesn't). Don't worry about it though, your options are just fine, and your not going to be lacking much. To be honest, it doesn't sound like your a real A/V nut that follows every new cable launch, so in truth you probably wouldn't even notice much if any of a difference, just enjoy what you have.

Optical is much worse than HDMI for audio sake. Do you have a clue what you are talking about?

HDMI is the best but if u hafta use somthin else then so b it (as long as its for sound if its for video in my opinion its a waste...well i guess they both are but its better to have video thru HDMI and no sound then vice versa)
