has anyone noticed the v-synch problems??helocabalus
yes, i thought it was running in 1080i at first because of the clipping/tearing, but my screen confirmed it was running in 720p.
graphics are very nice looking, the sound is top notch, and the textures look great, i thought the quick roll animation was crumby and the hair movement was pretty lame.
but its just a demo.
im still interested though, seams like a fun game, it has nothing on god of war 2 though so far.
if they improve the framerate it will be perfect.rahstar
there was also some screen tearing.... anyone noticed this?

yes very much so, it was pretty bad actually, id be cynicall about buying the game if the final product was like that, unless it got like 9.0 reviews or something.
i also thought the animation for the rolling dodge was horrible, it looked as if it had about 4 frames.
How long was Resistance? I'm guessing about 12-15 hours and I thoroughly enjoyed that game. I'll take an enjoyable experience in a time manageable size any day.emitsu97
12-15 hours? Whoa. If that's all it took you to beat RFOM allow me to say you are the man. That was a 25 to 30 hour game for me. That game just wouldn't end. It was the first time in a long time that I felt I got my money's worth in a game.
This may be the shortest demo I've ever played. It was fun but the shortness really ruined it...once you kinda get into it...and boom it's over.gamer082009
I agree 100%. I played the demo about 5 times in a row. Each time I was trying to pick up on different subtlties of the combat engine and animations...The combat engine is surprisingly deep, but I really don't like it how I can't manually block. It just throws me off. Maybe I need more practice parrying and countering attacks...
A defensive stance based on counter attacks would have been AWESOME. I really like the animations for the counters.
I completely disagree that this game is like God of War or Ninja Gaiden. Simply for the fact that Ninja Gaiden requires serious defensive prowless and God of War doesn't require you to switch weapons/stances as often.
The graphic in this game are excellent, but I found the sound to be rather choppy. This may have to do with the fact that it is a demo though. I fully expect the sound issue to be taken care of before release. Ditto with the framerate drops.
Overall, Heavenly Sword is a pretty good game. I've slightly lowered my expectations of the game and expect it to score in the 8.5 range. I simply don't like the fact that I cannot manually block...that is my biggest qualm with the game. Either way, I'm buying it.
Arg, I would have rather waited a few weeks and had the demo be a bit longer.w7w7w7w7w7
Stop the whining & be happy that you go to sample the game.

Yea. Not being able to block manually threw me off a bit too. Maybe it'll be in the finished game (hopefully).
[QUOTE="needlesmcgirk"]its a demo, its supposed to be short! Wait a few weeks and get the actual game. Now if that's short, then you have a good reason to be let down.odin2019
The game is short as well. At least thats what I've heard it should only take you about 12-15 hours to beat.
That isn't short at all. That is actually a long action game.

GoW2 had tearing left and right. I noticed it but it didn't stop me from enjoying the game.

Yeah same for me, the game doesn't seem to end... and lays beneath Oblivion and R6 which i play more often. Now i'm not saying Resistance isn't good, but after playing it at a friend's house as well i have come to my conclusion. RESISTANCE is a hasted product. Insomniac wanted to putt i think everything in Ratchet & Clank, just look at it.. *taking time*i'm really looking forward, with tense expectations.
Resistance: Fall of Man looks pretty d4rn FAT on a HDTV. Still watching friends play i am finally able to see and judge, about the games like i did back with Silent Hill on the psone.:PWhich i also loved but only to watch. I have enjoyed times where gaming made nonsense, that were the days:I almost lost it when i played RE for the first time:lol: I was just a kid back then:P BUT with gameplay Resident Evil 5 teases use with nowadays, i'm wanting this nextgen evermore:) ..and a big-screen in HD ..
I find that people complains a lot. Stop complaining, this is just a DEMO. Judge when full game is out. MaximumD
Indeed. Reading all this about the 'just' DEMO makes me think that, but i bet HS is also one of those games you can only fully enjoy on a hdtv:( Which i do not own yet:(:( Let me ask you all this; is it better than Resistance? Graphically?
PS Totally of topic no?
Pretty good, But I like combat system of God of War better based on the Heavenly sword demo. But then again this game will have shooting arrows and other mechanics which will diversify the action. Definitely going to buy this.killzones
That's what i wanted to hear:)
Is there some sort of demo length standard that everyone is complaining? It's a demo. DEMO.emitsu97
THANK YOU!
it's a DEMO people! it's supposed to be too short, and make you WISH it was longer, and that there was more. it's like the food samples at Costco or Price Club or Sam's Club. IT'S NOT SUPPOSED TO BE ENOUGH. it's called a tease for a reason.
I'm very impressed with the game so far. I love the combat and the visuals are definitely stunning. It was confirmed earlier this week that it was the GDC build... so I wonder what enhancements were made during that time. I do remember being a lot more impressed with the E3 vids than I was with the ones from GDC... but I'm actually loving the game based off of the early build now.
However, I do agree that from now on, demo's should be the first level or at least until some major checkpoint (20-30 min into the game)! This was the biggest tease and now Sept seems too far away!
My thoughts:
-Chug-tastic framerate...
-Boring combat (same combos over and over and over again? I'll pass)
-Great visuals (outside of the framerate)
sorely disappointed in this game.

He must have either played it a little at a friend's house, or played on Easy difficulty :|
Sparse checkpoints, waves upon waves of enemies, and the fact that when you walk into a 10 mile radius of a Chimera an entire squadron of them automatically aims and fires on you has me STILL playing this game, fast approaching the 20 hour mark. I do play on Hard though...lots of quick deaths for me and frustration, but I do feel like I get my money's worth and more given how amazing the online is.
