Heavenly Sword is a God of War ripoff

Well I do know they're both Sony, first party titles.

I'll acknowledge this, its basically god of war on ps3 but with a chick and a new timeline/story. But I'm not complaining, just mentioning this. I do dig the style of both games so I can't wait for Sept. 4th!k2dart2k

Yep, you figured it out too. I guess we're the only ones. I didn't like God of War very much. I prefer to kill my enemies BEFORE they get close enough for me to hit them with a sword. Give me some sort of semi-automatic machine gun and I'm good. 8)

only thing i see similar is they both have swords/daggers attached to chains. . . ive yet to see the heavenly sword(forgot her name) girl use god-like powers.jpridgen0

Also the "Simon Says" button matching. You'll see a giant X or an O or square appear on screen before a cinematic animation.

But this is to be expected GoW was a giant hit, and I enjoyed it. I'm happy to have more of this style of gameplay on the next gen console in a couple months.

No, they're made by different developers. Both developers are owned by Sony, but they work independently of each other.

So because it's a adventure hack and slash game it's a God of war ripoff? It can't be Ninja Gaiden ripoff or Devil May cry ripoff.

If you can't see mechanically why Heavenly Sword is VERY similar to God of War then you're either stupid or in denial. And being that it IS very similar to God of War I feel that is a GOOD thing. So why are they're complaints in this thread? I see ripoffs/copying as a good thing in many cases. Especially when you're upgrading a game style to a next gen. I'm considering Heavenly Sword as the early build of God of War 3.

If you can't see the similarities between Heavenly sword and Ninja gaiden then you are either stupid or in denial.

Here is the thing is a word you should learn: Genre. It's the hacker and slash genre. It ain't a "rip off" because of having same mechanics.

Games that truly have ripped off God of war game (fighting) mechanics are Hellboy and Ghost Rider.

On heavenly sword I have yet to see a sequence where a Square Icon pops up and you have to button mash the square so you can finish off your opponent.

The only thing that would remind me of God of War is that she is using some sort of chain sword.
