When I DL'd the Heavenly Sword demo and played it a few times, I thought it was lame. I understand it's "a work in progress", but, come on! Even Mario Bros had a jump button. To me, the fighting felt slow and awkward, (long pauses after combos)and the camera puts you really far away from the action. Think this is one game I'm gonna pass on when it comes out. Am I being to quick to rush to judgement?

Yes, you are being too quick to judge. The devs said that in the demo-level button-mashing could let you win, but it wouldn't help you at all in later levels. So what if there's no jump button? It's not like it's used in combat. There aren't as many platformer-like things in it, and when you do them it's not fun, but still the combat is good. You have to switch between all 3 to win, and can't rely on just 1. You have to block, and you have to counter. And the boss fights with snake lady, general flying fox, and roach look awesome! And playing as Kai looks like fun, controlling stuff with the sixaxis works pretty well.

Well said.. Maybe i'm just old school, but I think that the addition of a jump button would spice up the action a bit and make things feel more fluid. I'll at least rent it and see how the final version plays.

I said the same thing when I got it, but after playing it about 20 times and learning most of the combos, that opened up a new form of gameplay for me and allowed me to enjoy that game a heck of alot more. Thought it's not a buy for me I'd give it a rent once it's release

The demo was very lame, the shortness didn't even make it a tease..it made it an failure. But i'll still be getting it because it seems like it has potential...IF..they can keep things mixed up without getting repetitive.

I think the combat was alot of fun, but when then guys bashed through the doors i wasnt excited to fight, i was actully had a "more of this?" kinda feeling which is pretty sad since it was like a 30 second demo, I hope the full version rocks,

Yeah I want her to jump!! But you can't get anything you want :?

The demo was to short and the AI was to dumb down to much... Maybe if they put it on hard it or even normal! the action would be more intense.

I enjoyed the demo (though short) once I starting doing only counter moves. For anyone that feels like the game is simply a button masher, try playing through using only the triangle button during the fight stages.

I agree with you in that the DEMO could have been a lot better.

But I must admit I was still impressed by the demo. The graphics

are excellent and the gameplay held my attention.

I think this will be the first game that I really want to play as a female lead role.

Ms. Croft was sexy, but I couldn't stand the gameplay.

well i thought the demo was awesome, graphic wise it was crazy and so was the fighting tho i couldnt jump when i wanted to, never worked out how to do air combos.. =/

I never really missed the jump button and even in the demo I feel that button mashing simply does not work that well... I found myself countering every attack and just using some simple combos when I found an oppertunity.

played the demo..in my personalopinion its mediocore . Yes, i have did some to arieal combos and all that mess..Best of luck to heavenly sword

Yeh, jump itself doesn't really aid you in any way other than adding to the freedom of the controls, though don't get me wrong, I love the whole jumping thing! jump in WoW is pretty much useless but it's still good to have it :D

When the game is built without need for a jump button, there's no reason to add one. In combat, all it does is add combos (which the game has enough of already) and outside of combat, jumping is for platforming, which the game obviously doesn't have.

This would be a valid complaint if there was a NEED for a jump button in Heavenly Sword. It's not a platformer, so you don't need it. Does MGS have a jump button? No, because it doesn't need it. The games still kick ass. So to sum things up, the TC is a moron. Maybe you don't like Heavenly Sword because it's not your kind of game, but the argument against it is just moronic. Learn to express yourself better!

I thought it was tight. Just got PSN last night, and the first thing I did was download the demo. I didn't read the combo list the first time through, so I thought it sucked, second time, I went through all the combos before running on the rope, and there's actually quite a few. I could see how it would get repetitive in a 10 hour game, if the same weapon was being used over and over and over, but it's been confirmed that there will be many weapons, hence many combos, hence lots of fun.

Good teaser, this demo gives you a basic idea of whats to come. Two words for the people who say a game needs a jump button. Bionic Commando.

I think the demo is fine. Would I like more, sure, but this is what we got. After playing it through many times, practicing combos, showing it to other people, there's plenty in here to see. Unfortuately, you're gonna have to remember that there is much more to the game than the demo. Some of you will need to wait for a full review. Not me, I'm already sold.

i want a block button more then a jump button and the camera was to far away to get the immersive feeling.

BUT still a buy from me :P

IMO i think it was alright, but saddly i don't think it'll be AAA like everyones hyping it to be. there's just to much hype to this game that in the end it wont satisfy. Also IMO i don't think the combat will be the best like DMC or NG but i'm really looking forward to the story, characters and cutsence. To people who say this game is great because of the grahpics suck :P

I think the hype around the game is a little to high, AAA is out of question imo, but overall though who cares?? its going to be a good game I need something to play for my PS3 that isn't a sports game.

I thought it was good and I like the immersive cutscenes like in RE4. The fighting was good, I like the many combos that could be performed with 3 stances.

What are you talking about? DMC is just as repetitive. The only thing that really shakes it up to be honest is the guns. You really cant say dmc has better combat when its pretty much the same combat as in HS. Only dif is HS has counters and no jump.

P.S. I do like DMC

you're not that old school. Last I checked, that MGS series doesnt let you jump either. I think it turned out to be a hit series though....
