I'd suggest doing some research online, there is a TON of info out there.
Short story, it is an online community that is avatar based for all things video games (chatting, demos, launching games, etc.) and for multimedia enterainment in general.
Search these boards, sony's site and the internet in general, you'll find all sorts of info.

Home is kinda sony's answer to xbox live. But it is the form of a 3d world ala second life. Where you have a home, an avatar, and its free. You go around chatting with other people's avatars,play games, or watch movies. It is currently in beta testing. Supposedly there is an open beta coming soon then the release is sometime next year.

It's not out yet, it is expected in spring of '08. Believe me, Sony will make it abundently clear when they launch it.
