I have $800 with me. So I'm thinking of getting a PS3. But which one is better? Is it the Slim or normal PS3? I'm thinking of getting the PS3 Special Edition FFXlll. It has the 250GB HDD. But it is the slim one? So can some one please give me any advice? Is their any problem wit the PS3 that I should know? I'm really looking forward to all the PS3 excluive. All of them is a must buy. That is why I'm buying the PS3. Now with Heavy Rain and God of war 3 coming out, I seriously can't miss this one.

Thanks

All the infos you need is in the stickies. But the easiest choice is to get the cheapest one and upgrade the HDD when you run out of space ^^ Doesn't really matter which model you get and the ones with BC are to expensive and rare to even think about them (especially if you can get a PS2 pretty cheap)

Just spend 350 and get the 250 gig PS3 slim. I would not buy the older 20, 60 or 80 gig models. If you ever do need more space you could always buy a new HDD(They are pretty cheap).

Well, I think you should get the 120GB slim ps3 or the old fat one, both of them actually are the same except the slim don't have Linux... I think you should get 120 GB HDD space because upgrade to higher capacity HDD is cheaper than buying PS3 with higher HDD space...

My selection for you: 120GB Slim

if the FFXIII SE has a 250GB hard drive, its a slim. the slims are just fine. the biggest drawback is that you cant play ps2 games on them. but the ones that had BC were more prone to failure it seems. also the slims use less energy than the fatty's. ive got the slim and i love it. you wont regret it.

Just get a 250GB slim. There's no advantage to getting the fat one, the only backwards compatible models have been out of production for a long time.

The bigger the HDD the better (I have 500gb HDDs in my PS3s). The only probs with the PS3 will occur if you use the back power switch to turn off the system instead of the controller or the button on the front except when the the later 2 wont turn it off or if you disrupt the machine during game saves or installs or if you don't make sure it's well ventilated or do things with it other than what is normal. Treat it good and it'll treat you very-very well.

I would get the 120GB Slim like someone already stated because you can pick up a 250GB HD for $50 and that way for $350, you get an extra 120GB HD to use as an external and what not.

The slim would probably be the best choice. It would take a long while to fill up the hard drive. =)

250 gig slim on amazon tax free. i got free shipping and it got to my house in less then 2 days. i oedered it 6 am monday morning and it just got to my house at 11 am. its really light and very quite.

my old 60 gig broke. so im hoping these are made better.

also i wouldnt get a ps3 with under 120 gig hd. because almost every ps3 makes you install game data to ur hd. i ran out of space really fast on my 60 gig. forcing me to delete installs on games i rented. no big deal but those installs take about 20- 45 minutes. so that would make me not want to play the games i deleted the installs on.

I'm thinking of going with the 250 slim, myself. Yes you can get the cheaper 120 and upgrade the HDD to something huge, but the cost difference between the two is 50 bucks. So, really it kinda a no win situation. Might as well just pay the extra 50 bucks and get 2x the amount of space and hold off on that extra HDD cost. The hangup I have is to either buy it online and save on taxes, or buy through best buy and spend an extra 50-80 bucks for their 2 year service plan. 50 bucks for the 120, and 80 bucks for the 250 (yeah makes no sense....but it is, what it is.). What are the chances of aPS3's yellow lighting within 2 years, anyway?

The only real feature advantage the later generation phats have over the slim is other os support. I for one love the feature as it expands your gaming options in the living room immensely. For instance install Yellow Dog Linux with the Zerogame project you can play numerous game consoles and arcade machines with ease as demoed in this video. The slim conversly runs cooler and has an internal HD audio decoder.

Any Slim will be fine. why need a 500GB if you want, nice but so much space of harddrive it's just gonna make you downloading everything like crazy some times is just pointless.

Don't want this to sound rude because by all means I don't mean it to be but if you don't know what Linux is then you don't need it. It is an operating system (similar to Windows, but different concept) that you can install on your PS3 so it behaves more like a computer.

I have the 80GB fat PS3 and it's great. A friend of mine has the new PS3 slim, and i noticed it's a lot slower. Load times seem to be slightly slower, and when exiting a game into the XMB, its much slower than the fat PS3 i have. But of course, by "slow" i mean only about 2 or 3 seconds longer, which in reality isn't too bad. And The PS3 slim can't have Linux installed onto it (which I see as kinda useless). So the only difference is that the Slim is slightly slower.
