help with external HDD

ok i got this "WD my passport essential" 320 gigexteranlHDD to back up my ps3 data and the ps3 wont recognize that its plugged in...i go to back up data under system settings and it says "no storage media detected" or something. Is there anything else im supposed to do? Note my pc recognizes it and i'set up the driver" etc...

I think the format of the external needs to be FAT32, its probably NTSC.

Or you could plug it in to your PC and reformat it to FAT32...

No need to return it, just format it FAT32. Google the program swissknife.

ok DL swisskinfe and it looks like i can format it to FAT16 but not FAT32...

YEA-AS ALREADY SAID BY SOMEONE-YOU NEED TO DOWNLOAD V3 OF SWISSKNIFE-i USED IT TO FORMAT MY PS3'S HD SO I COULD USE IT EXTERNALLY
