help with ps2 games on ps3

Last night we tried to play a PS2 game on our PS3 and it said something about needing to update the system software to be able to do it - how are you supposed to do that without the PS3 connecting to the Internet?

 

Seems pretty stupid to me that sony would release something and say it's backwards compatible then make you download something - what about those people without an internet connection - what are they supposed to do?

There are a few games that need the new firmware update in order to function properly. If you don't have the PS3 hooked to the internet head over to http://www.us.playstation.com/ps3/network/updates to download it onto your computer. Put it in a folder called UPDATE and put that folder into another called PS3. Then just put that onto a memory card or thumb drive and do the system update.
