"Kojima: For us, we're not still not satisfied with the quality we can do. You know, there's not capacity space.

Interviewer: Wait, wait a sec. Saying there's not enough capacity, are you talking about Blu-ray?

Kojima: That's correct. There's not enough space at all. (laughs) ...There's not enough space. We always talked about where to cut and what to compress."

The above is from an interview in Famitsu magazine. I just about dropped my jaw when I read that. Just what in the world is he putting on the disc to say that Blu Ray's don't have enough space? All I can say is it's a good thing he can at least have the option to use all that space, if Sony hadn't put a Blu Ray drive in the PS3 I wonder what that could of meant for the final MGS game.

I think a big part of that space goes to a possibly gigantic add-on called metal gear online. But unless he's crazy enough to use 2 blu-ray discs inside the packaging instead of one, the two portions online and campaign should still be pretty big.

I'm not surprised. Game developers are pushing their games to Hollywood-epic proportions. To accomplish that, much more than 25 GB and developing is needed.

This is old. I would like to see kojima tap into the ps3's power and give us more than a taste of what this machine can do.

That's because Bluray is slow reads, so devs preferably want to have things uncompressed to speed things up. Also having things uncompressed put less load on the core enabling it to put its work on nicer things.

ya i think you may be right. it's along the same lines as when devs always say they never have enough time.

Well now it's a headline in the news section here at gamespot, as well as IGN. So teebeenz, I guess my half assed website is pretty reliable, and faster on news than anyone else.
