No thats horrible if he stops making movies. That'll suck for us. Unless thats sarcasm. Then...
How will that suck? It means we get spared movies like, Pearl Harbor, Bad Boys 2 and box office blunders like The Island. Bay did nothing to make Transformers cool, he actually detracted from it. Give the reigns to someone else as well as a competent writer and you could have a way better sequel. Stop giving Michael Bay credit that he doesn't deserve. People didn't go see Transformers because it was a Michael Bay movie, they saw it because it was a Transformers movie.
Sorry, but I thought The Island was pretty bad ass.

I thought The Island would bomb, but when I saw it, it was good! It just grows on you

I didn't mean the comment to seem like it was attacking The Island as a bad movie. I meant that we the consumers get spared horrible movies like Pearl Harbor and Bad Boys II, and studios will be spared box office poison like The Island. Like it or not that movie was a catastrophic failure in terms of revenue.
[QUOTE="darthogre"]So your saying he wants his chunk of the $150 mill. Lol if true(probably not), now some of the other directors might also want their money upfront. You have to put this all in context.
Bay is probably pissed off because he realizes not having Blu-Ray means 70% less sales which means less roaylties for him. I'll bet his contract stipulates he gets a % of the revenue from the sales of Transformers on DVD and highdef formats. I'd be pissed too if someone just took a chunk of my money because MS..errrr the HD camp paid Paramount off.
Jakster4u
thats not what hes saying
Bay will and does get royalties for every copy of a movie sold he makes
with this HDDVD deal, he wont get nearly as much for Transformers as he would have if it were for both blu ray and hd dvd. Blu ray is outselling 2:1 vs HD DVD, so in effect this deal cut his revenue in half

Well let's be honest, for his revenue to be cut in half that would have to assume a Blu Ray owner that intended on buying it will not be buying it on DVD instead, or that they don't already have an HD DVD player. And as someone said earlier how is losing half of 1% that big of a deal?
I wonder how many directors are upset with this move from Paramount. This may cause some of these directors and producers to go to other studios like Fox, Disney, Tri-Star, and Sony. This could in a short time ruin Paramount and open the door for another studio to bail them out thus gaining a controlling stock in the studio. Think about this the parent company of Fox Newshas already or just about to buy out the Wall Street Journel for a few billion dollars.jimm895Latest Insider reports say that Francis Ford Coppolla and James Cameron have joined Bay in expressing their displeasure at this decision and may end up with Spielberg deals themselvesr. kmagtmq.

The start of The Island was actually the best Bay movie I've watched, the end was just classic Michael Bay...bleh

I'm talking strictly about high definition sales, which i thought what this whole paramount deal was about, not DVD's
I hope that he does do a second one but this time Steven Speilberg will also be the co director so that we he can do his loophole and get it on both formats at the very least lol. Really i hope that maybe he will possibly fight and try to bring it on BD anyways especially if he wasnt informed on any of this before hand or isnt getting a cut of this money.Kurushio
hes already stated he wants it on hd dvd and he cant "fight" its out of his hands.

I really don't want or need the moron that said "Last night at dinner I was having dinner" directing any more movies and if that for whatever reason meant no Transformers sequel, so be it.
