Ok it doesn't appeal to me either for different reasons than your own however clearly a lot of people love this sort of thing you only have to look at the Sims series for conformation of this fact. So I say best of luck to them, and for those of us disinterested in this feature it appears to be optional so no real problem.

If you dont like the idea of 3d characters, why do you play video games? This isnt like a full out game, its more of an extension of the PSN with added features.

1) Home is compely free so if you don't want to use it or care about it your not suffering. 2) The success of games like the Sims and Second Life shows that this kind of stuff is what people want 3) It's a great way to meet people and just do absolutly nothing for no reason at all. 4) Your apartment can be used a lobby so if you and a friend want to play some motorstorm then you can get him to come over and you won't have to wonder if he's coming into the game or not.

Home will not be completly free. yes you will get a free base package, but you will have to spend cash to download those HD movies, Play those Games, get cooler clothes, accessories and much more. Home is going to bring in money, specially with the Advertising and this is why PSN will be free.

Not really. It the trophy is 2 story high compare to a trophy that sit on top of a bookshelf... That's a big difference.

Obviously you do care since you bothered to post. I also do not really care for Home, but as long as it does not interfere with the rest of the system I will just not use it. If Sony does make it mandatory to access downloadable content or matchmaking then I will have to take issue with it as invasive and most likely inefficient. I don't want to have to walk to a virtual store to download a new map pack or something.
Noone should judge it bad until they download it and try it. It is an OPTIONAL download though. But Good luck finding as many people online to play with if your not going to use it when almost everyone else will be.

Second life? Oops, i forgot to give my opinion. I think its a great idea for sony, itll give PSN a new sense of community like what that other service on that other console has. Maybe itll be great, maybe itll be somewhat lacking... who knows

Then again nothing is specified yet. I would presume that certain objects are free or come with games you purchase (It's not like it costs Sony anything to give away a virtual lamp or two).

because it's a great community feature? By the way you seem to be thrashing at home it seems like you don't want any community features at all with any online service. Anyway if you don't like it, you don't have to use it. It's there for people that want to use the service.

I'll be sticking to just using my apartment as a lobby and talking to you in a lounge. The point I was making is that, if you don't like it, then you don't have to use it and it won't affect you. so basicly, its XBL with a differnt ineterface but its free where XBL you have to pay for to get the same features.
really, the negative stuff is from people who didnt like XBL or Wii online either or from fanboys who hate sony no matter what and dont want the PS3 to surpass X-box 360 any further than what it has.

Wehn they said that I just realized how good home would be for clans. They would actually be able to set up private meetings through their consoles without having to go to their computer and do stuff through forums or MSN. They can easily all meet up at a virtual home and use voice chat. Brilliant.

seems silly to buy a console just based on that 1 feature. if other things like that game little big planet(coolest thing i think ive ever seen) FF13, MGS4, GoW3, Lair, Heavenly Sword, etc. look good, then i would understand. its a game console when it comes down to it, the home thing is just icing on the cake(chocolate i feel, cause it is the best icing)
