I thought it was kinda lame, and it was like myspace....

BUT imagine how cool it would be, as someone else said before: it would be insane if you can have your clan over for a movie you just downloaded after a quick game of killzone:P  it's like 1st guy:"ahh that was a nice game." 2nd guy:" hye guys wanna come over to my house and watch the new trailer for (enter good game)"  everyone else: " sure, and then we can play some FOOTBALL!"

On the one hand, it's a lot like an MMORPG without any quests. On the other hand, it's a lot like an MMORPG without any quests.

i for one think PSHome is giong to be sweet, it will be like the sims online!

no online community on a major product like this has ever been attempted, especially at such a large scale.  I for one can't wait for this to come out, imean it would be awsome to meet up with friends and go play games and stuff like that.  Like second life only... you know... good!

yep not sims online but I do have an account for second life. That game is riddled with performance problems(it doesn't even look that good) and countless bugs. The potential within second life is there, but I merely see it as a sort of BETA at this point. Second life and HOME seem similar, but HOME isn't simply a copy of second life. It's different in the way features are being put in in and how you can access content. The only similarities I really see between the two is having your own avatar and your own apartment(which you have to pay for in second life anyway)

To me it looks like they're taking the core of second life and just pushing everything forward, minus the bugs and glitches of course.

I dont know... able to bring people you meet on Home into online games? That sounds much better to me than hunting down someone while playing a games, and it does have a sims-ish look but it will makes it more of an experience to play. So far it seems to me like a cooler way of an online community.

[QUOTE="GameArtGuy"][QUOTE="Gzus666"][QUOTE="Film-Guy"]THe idea of a myspace style thing is ok, achivements being shown and trophies, but I think the HOME idea is not very good. what is the point of having a virtual character and a fake computer apartment? This remind sme of people who pay REAL MONEY for islands in MMORPGS. HOME seems like a distrtaction, there is no gain in having a character to move, a simple chat room would be fine, we dont need characters. imagien having to make microtransactions to pay for stuff in your house? it doesnt make sense! why cant we just have an achievement list for every gamer online. HOME seems fancy, but I think its a bad idea.UntoldDreams
but its free, and they can put advertisements around to keep their profits up, while providing great content. the virtual games look good, who doesnt like bowling, pool and those arcade games once and a while? while im not a big online socialite, a lot of people are, so im sure it will be a turn for the better for the PS3

It said you will be charged for extras from the playstation store... most likely you are going to pay for anything beyond having a character. Second life?

They also said they would embrace user created content.

Then again nothing is specified yet. I would presume that certain objects are free or come with games you purchase (It's not like it costs Sony anything to give away a virtual lamp or two).

*** Some idiot out there paid for Horse Armor, right?

Hey, i paid for horse armor! (and it was idiotic) What im worried about is the fact that Home may become almost tedious. If you wanna watch a movie, you have to move your character to the theatre and what not instead of clicking a button. SOE has the experience of creating a game, but honestly they dont have the experience of keeping one going. Thats what scares be about it.

I never tried it because of the whole 'use your real life money in the game' thing. I didn't know it was buggy.

Actually I have been leaning towards buying an Xbox360 because of all the cool Xbox live features, but with the upcoming release of HOME I think that has persuaded me to buy a PS3 now. The home feature IMO looks really innovative, I have never seen something like that for a console. I personally will be using and hopefully love HOME :)

I hope they will both be good. But really I'd base which system to get on which exclusive games you want to play... if you play a lot of online games, then it looks like you're going to have to wait and see how convenient Home is compared to Live.

hey, i'm not a sony fan at all but i got to say, i like the idea a lot. the only thing is the basic package where u'd just have an apartment and go to a lounge to talk to people sounds a bit underwelming. i'm glad they have all the extra features, even if it isn't free or not - because without everything else it wouldn't be interesting at all. i think it's kind of weird that some people are stoked about it and are saying they won't do anything that costs money. so basically, if the pitch went, "you have an apartment and you invite a friend over to play a game" would that still satisfy u? with just that, i'd prefer xbox live to it any day of the week. but i love the idea of parties and all the other possibilities. i think it'd be sweet if they let people trash the apartments - smash the tvs, throw chairs threw the windows, pee on ur floor, let a dog in to poop on their couch - but of course all of it could be put back to normal with just a click of a button. on the negative side, get ready for a year or two down the road where our local news or cnn does stories about the lonely people that demand sony to allow two players to share a home and get married, and spend their whole lives in ps home going on virtual dates but disappointed there's no virtual handjobs. u also get to look forward to the negative press of the first virtual child molester who tells little timmy that he's so good at warhawk and enjoys playing with him so much that he's inviting him to come back to his upscale complex by the lake to watch gay porn on his virtual 60" sony sxrd. god, what a crazy virtual world some of u are going to live in :D

xbox live won't go anywhere - it's so easy and user friendly. you get an invite from your buddy to play gears of war, you accept it - and you start playing it right then. i love how easy to use it is. but like i said, as xbox fan, i'm very interested myself.

It is all about community. Community is one of the biggest steps in the world of online gaming. You can buck the trend all you want and come up with any of a hundred reasons why you dislike it or don't care, but ideas like this are the future and I for one welcome them.

Personally i like the idea of HOME. But still, with "additional items available from the store", it seems like sony are pulling every trick out of the hat to try and narrow down that money loss on every console they sell.

its a way to fund the servers and the time spent and updates for all the content. they are going to make the money back on consoles with games, if they havent already(im sure they have with all the price drops for the hardware they are using)

i wonder what kinda censoring it will have.  i mean i get annoyed in 16 player matches by atleast 1 person 90% of the time while playing XBL.  how many people can be in the public lobby at a time?  i can see some people using this feature to just be total jerks, now in 3D!

it would be nice if all the reagions wer meshed together though.  since it has emotes and simple text saying they could easily translate into diffrent languages.  how many of us really wanna try out VF skills against some Japanese gamers?  i hear their pretty good at that game.....

....

Yes, but its that really wrong. Its still free. I like it. 'll pay a few bucks for some things. I just hope they don't pull a M$ and charge you 5 bucks for a 100kb tshirt image.

And did I mention it's totally FREE FREE!!!! Hello....Anywayz if you don't like the idea just don't use it period....Keep It Up SONY....

HAHAHAH seriously, people these days make me laugh with their ignorance. First they complain about how PSN is no where near as good as XBL. They complain how there are no unified buddy lists, no achievements. So Sony announces both features and a whole lot more, at no initial cost to the consumer. Now people are whining that Sony is trying too hard. WOW. Our civilization has hit an all time low if people are reprimanded for putting effort into something. Seriously, leave it alone you lazy, lazy bastards.

For people complaining about having to walk to places to do crap; did you completly miss the PSP menu tool? (just speculation but) I think you may be able to jump straight to what ever you want from there. If not, then we can always cry and complain till we get what we want.

Have any of you in this room bothered to look at peoples history of forums when they come in with there opinions.

This film-guy has repeatedly dissed playstation3, he has said that mgs3 was "cheesy" and inferior to splinter cell.  He clearly is a fanboy trying to start a war in a ps3 forum and not system wars.  Theres nothing wrong with opinions but yours(film-guy) have been biased.
