Honest thoughts on Resistance 3's Multiplayer

What do you guys think so far? It's not that I'm a total multiplayer gamer, but I can't justify a 60 dollar purchase on a 10 hour story I'll likely play through once. That's no slight to the devs, I just tend to get my moneys worth if a game has a compelling multiplayer. and with BF3 coming out, I dont' want to buy R3 just to switch to that if it's nothing great. I've heard great things about R3's story, but what's the deal with the multiplayer?

I didn't get a chance to play the beta, but heard a LOT of mixed reviews- some say it was awful, some say fun. I'm kind of the fence, thinking I'll wait 6 months or a year for a price drop, but was wondering if anyone had anything to say about the multiplayer, both beta and the actual copy. What do you guys honestly think of the game's multiplayer?

When the beta worked (it was completely busted for most of its duration), it was pretty swell. Nothing new or interesting there, but it felt like a solid multiplayer component.

Maxi-Stink-age. Wouldn't wipe my nose with it.

I played the multiplayer beta twice and i was not really that impressed. It wasn't terrible but compared to the other online FPS out there (especially with BF3 coming out) it wasnt that good.

Thanks for the replies everyone. As much as I'm all about supporting devs, I think this is a classic case of a game with an awesome campaign that I can't quite justify a 60 dollar purchase on. I'll certainly get the game, I think I'll just wait til it drops to around 40 and play it mostly for the story and drop into the online every once and a while. I'm all for great single player experiences, 8-10 hours just isn't quite enough replay value for me in a shooter.
