SInce PS3 were key word WERE so hard to get, I'd like to hear your story on how you got your PS3. Me personally, I got off work on a late shift on the day it came out and went down to the local BestBuy found roughly 40 people lined up, so said what the heck I'll line up and try my luck and lord behold there was 43 PS3 in stock. I got one sold it on Ebay, I'm sorry the price was just too good and went out and bought a Nintendo Wii on launch day, I waited for 8 hours in line. Then after Christmas I happen to find a second PS3 at my BestBuy, so I bought it. With the profit I made from the first PS3 I was able to get both a Wii and a few games.
Someguy won one from Amazon.com around launch time. He didnt want it so I met him through Craigslist and bought it from him. He only asked me for retail value it was pretty cool.Â
Funny story on mine. I had absolutely no intentions of buying a PS3 for probably a year or so. I was shopping for xmas gifts at Best Buy the Friday they were released. I played the motorstorm demo in the store and thought it was real sweet. I ended up talking to one of the employees there about a digital picture frame or something and I asked him how long the line was for the PS3s. He said they started lining up Wednesday for em and they sold out in about 15 minutes. Then another employee comes by and mentions they just got 3 drop shipped via UPS. I didnt believe him, figured he was just being funny. Then he brought be up to the front desk and gave me a ticket for one. So then I went up to the front counter and some guy snuck one out of a back room and brought it to the register. So out of nowhere I got a PS3. I ended up keeping it for a few weeks waiting to see what prices on ebay would do (they cooled off) so I finally cracked it open and retired my ps2 to the bedroom.
Got mine around early January. I decided that every time I go to Best Buy I was going to take PS3 money just in case. One day I go to buy some DVD's and it said on a paper on the front of the store they had them in stock. I asked for it and left with a PS3.
I waited in no pre-order lines. I waited in no 1st day lines. I walked in at 10:00a.m. on launch day, paid for my Playstation 3 and went home. Not very exciting, but much more enjoyable of an experience then some of you had I would imagine.

With all that time you probably waited in line to pre-order those, I did something productive with my life and still bought the same things you did. Congratulations on your business deal! At least you got what ya needed.
I was at my local Target store about a week before Christmas and I just happened to walk by the videogame lock-up case as they were just stocking a new shipment of PS3's. They had like 4 60gig and 2 20gig systems. I then had to decide really quickly. Should I buy it now (I had no intention of buying one at the time) or wait another month or more before I had a chance like this roll around again? During the 10 seconds I was contemplating what to do about 5 people crowded together trying to get on. I had to jump in line and luckily I was able to snag the last system they had. And I'm happy to say it was the 60gig model. Basically it was just a $600 impulse buy.

i didnt wait at all, walked into 1 eb and 2 gs's at 10:00am, 10:10am, and 9:00am (
I had to sneak up on an old lady buying one for her grandson. I told her to give it to me. A tussle ensude.  In the end there was a cut eye, dislocated a finger, holes in panty hose, and one severe weggie. But you should have seen her. I swear the old bat was a hells angel biker in drag. No, really, I went to best buy at 8:30am on dec 31. Got a line ticket at 9:00am. Left at 9:01am. Came back at 10:00am. Walked out the door with my new 60 gig ps3, rfom, fnr3, and a second controller at 10:15am.
mom went to work early in the day saw a coupel systems had one held for her, came hoem and then to the bank took out the money went back bought it and gave it to me on x-mas
pre-ordered mine back when ebgames did that silent annoucement 1 month before launch..was 8th in line the morning of that preorder with my friend (showed up about 1 hr before the store opened)...store orginally planned on getting 16 ps3...only got 9 in...so me and my friend were the last ones..both 60 gb...loved it ever since
