My fiance bought the 60gb ps3 day 1 & it was near $700 then, so now now that it's a huge chunk lower than it was some of you still complain about the price? Funny! That's true, I got my 60 GB launch week $636 and thats fine for us that can afford that, but were talking about a game system not a Mercedes. Everyone who wants a ps3 that can afford it already has one. The only others who want one but don't have one, most likely cant afford it, or they don't want to pay that much. A price drop is needed as much as I personally disagree, but from an economic stand point both the wii and 360 are cheaper and both have old more so logically it has the be the price. The games are great so it can't be that. It really comes down to what Sony wants to do, they will be seccussivle no matter what, because althought the ps3 is in last place its still selling great, so there's no worries about them not making enough money. The only dellema is wether they want to pull out of last place, and a prce droup will do that, other wise thay will still sell good with out it.

More general appeal games to the psn. A first the psn was releasing games like mk2, tekken:dr , gaunlet now they are just pushing exclusive stuff, except for capcom. More classic videogames and online boardgames/ card games.

I might sound like a fan but the truth is the truth, i like both systems for gaming but when you compare carefully both of them the PS3 have more content and better value.

first of they need to realize and admitt that they messed up. their arrogance really got the best of them. they can't spin being in "third place" is a good thing, because i don't think they made the ps3 to be in thrid place.

when they humble themselves, they can start to change their miss-step.

Price cut. you can't be 1st in this recession being the most expensive system. they are taking losses with the price anyway, but everyone knows they make it up through software sales.

how about $5 discount on games. instead of $59.99...why not $55. a cheaper game, and free online might push their multi plat game sales.

PAY FOR EXCLUSIVES! try to work out a deal in bringing at least timed exclusive for 6 months. that really helps game sales and helps associate games for ps3 instead of multi plat. also make sure that developers not advertise that its multi plat UNTIL the game releases 3 months into the timed exclusive. having the deal with ubisoft games, namco,square enix and capcom would help.

make deals with individual developement studios.help them make games better and easier. if the cell is hard to code for, make it easier for them. in turn get some exclusive rights.

more advertising! not that montage of all the games, but indvidual advertisements on games. have lbp flood the saturday morning cartoons and cartoon network.

make online gaming easier by making matchmaking wit friends easier. have a lineal online hub and not let game studios make their own. hire some great networking people that can make the xmb and psn more creative. its functional, make it unique.

home is great, but use the trophy system as virtual cash to customize clothes, and user space. it makes trophy system more relevant.

have better games that relate to the japanese market. have you seen your sales in japan? its horrible. bring more rpgs and games that interest their taste,

stop trying to make a million sku's. just have one...an affordable 1.

from there we can build a model that can carry to ps4 and beyond. it starts with price...then with games...then advertise them.

A few people are taking my first post out of context. Please, read people.:roll: I was just answering the TC's question, which is "How can SONY make a rebound?" I said Sony needs to cut prices. This was not me attacking the PS3. In fact, the PS3 is my console of choice. I bought it at its highest price the day it came out and I believe it was worth every penny. So please quit taking my post out of context.

To the guy that thinks PS3 games are on DVD - Sorry man, but you are dead wrong. Every game I have for my PS3 is Blu-Ray and I have some of the first games like Resistance and Motorstorm.

Price cut is wrong way to go. It shows the company isn't confident of their own product and if consumer doesn't buy it, it's nail in the coffin. What Sony needs is GAMES. Secure exclusive games and get big ones that swings console sales. Dragon Quest for Japan, Final Fantasy for the world, and Call of Duty for America. pay some **** load of money to get biggest franchise exclusive for PS3 and rest should follow. TriangleHard

Price cuts also occur when manufacturing costs come down. It is not always a sign of weakness. When you see a $199 console sitting next to a $399 console, you need a price cut in order to stay competitive.

I bought my 60 gb PS3 on day one too for the exact same price. I am not complaining about the price. The TC asked what Sony could do to compete and I am sorry but that is what they are going to have to do. I believe the PS3 is worth every penny it cost, but it seems most gamers do not, unfortunately.

I agree. It is a great system & us launch buyers paid waaaay more for a 60gb than what these recent ps3 owners are paying for a 160gb ps3.

y you don't see a ps3 at 300? heres the answer: a blue ray player itself is 300 bucks. throw in a gaming console with it and its going to cost more. Sony just want to at least make their money back. you get what you pay for. its either a pos system without the latest in technology or the great ps3: the future game console.
