Jeanne D'arc is very simple you'll have a set team in no time. Final Fantasy Tactics is hard and long.
Also just throwing it out there Disgea is a long and grinding tactic game as well.
I haven't played Jeanne D'arc but I've heard its a good SRPG to start with if you're new to the genre. The first time I played FFT (on the PS1) i had a hard time, it was still fun, I just got to some point where i couldnt beat the level and was stuck there for a long time. I think it was the first SRPG I played, but the first might have been Kartia for the PS1. I'm not completely sure, but it was either the first or second SRPG I played.
ok this is actually getting funny. You say the game is complicated, it needs one's brain and you still learned stuff about it by reading the guide even after maxing out all your characters' job levels and yet it's not a hard a game. And you also claim that you have never played a hard game before. I can't help but to come to conclusion that you don't know what's the definition of a hard game or let's say what most people call a hard game.
When I have to do each battle several times to come up with a startegy or when I have to do lots of leveling to get an edge in battles or when there are lots of info about each character to have in mind all the time, I think the game is hard. dunno about you.
