Jeanne D'arc is very simple you'll have a set team in no time. Final Fantasy Tactics is hard and long.

Also just throwing it out there Disgea is a long and grinding tactic game as well.

I've logged 50 hours on FFT and after about 10 hours in, you get the hang of things. But the starting is complex, I previously played FFTA (logged about 110 in that) so I had the general idea so the learning curve wasn't as steep. I recommend looking a some of the guides if your stuck or don't really get how to do things or just going to the FFT specific forum. It's my favorite psp game, I highly recommend it! 8)

FF Tactics has incredible replay value.

I personally think you're going to need a FAQ with you, because there are like 50 classes.

Nonetheless, awesome game. Same with Jeanne D'arc and Disgaea. Definitely get Disgaea as well.

Sophia Tong posted in a thread here a week or so back saying that Jeanne d'Arc was a good intro game for people new to SRPGs; FFT is manageable but understanding the job system and leveling effectively is pretty complicated and it's easy to screw up early on in ways that limit you a lot later on.

I have both games as well, personally I think FFT is a much better game than Jeanne. Back on the PS1 I played that game to death with my 5 man team all level 99 with most of the jobs skills maxed out. When they released it for the psp I was like a young lad at a candy shop. I also picked up the guide, and to my surprise I learned a lot more about the game (tricks, secrets, skill setups) then I thought I would. So to answer your question, FFT is a complicated game, yes. Lengthy, demanding of ones brain. But to the guy that said it was hard? L2P.

You pretty much said the same in your post lol
"complicated, demanding ones brain"
I'm really eager to know what's your definition of a hard game.

I haven't played a game that I've found hard, because to some people who think that losing the first time is hard, I do not. If I cannot beat the game, it is hard. Any game I've played I've beaten or lost interest due to lack of story. Challenging is a different story. I did say, "Demanding of ones brain." And "Complicated" But complicated simply means it's detailed, not simplistic. And most people these days lack common sense, so...y'know how it is.

If your opinion is different from mine, so be it. But when you say "but FFT is extremely hard and looooooooooooooong." and more likely than not, you haven't even beaten the game yet....you have no place to say it's hard. Like I said earlier, to this day I still learn more about the games mechanics. But all you need to know in a game like that is simply this. Move, it moves the character. Act, allows the character to carry out an action. Wait, tells the character to wait until it is his turn again. From previous RPGs everyone knows what HP/MP stands for. CT doesn't need to be known but can be used for more advanced tactics once you understand how it works. With those basics in mind, FFT is not a hard game. So again, POOYANH good sir, L2P.

I haven't played Jeanne D'arc but I've heard its a good SRPG to start with if you're new to the genre. The first time I played FFT (on the PS1) i had a hard time, it was still fun, I just got to some point where i couldnt beat the level and was stuck there for a long time. I think it was the first SRPG I played, but the first might have been Kartia for the PS1. I'm not completely sure, but it was either the first or second SRPG I played.

ok this is actually getting funny. You say the game is complicated, it needs one's brain and you still learned stuff about it by reading the guide even after maxing out all your characters' job levels and yet it's not a hard a game. And you also claim that you have never played a hard game before. I can't help but to come to conclusion that you don't know what's the definition of a hard game or let's say what most people call a hard game.

When I have to do each battle several times to come up with a startegy or when I have to do lots of leveling to get an edge in battles or when there are lots of info about each character to have in mind all the time, I think the game is hard. dunno about you.

Advanced strategies are more complicated than actually playing the game, that was my point from my previous post. You can play through the game with no trouble following the basics. Again, I never said the game was hard and I already gave you my definition of a hard game. I think I also stated that if your opinion is different from mine, so be it! In a SRPG? OF COURSE you learn more about the games mechanics after reading it. A team of players takes the game apart and reassembles it to write the guide. So in terms of what I said "I learned a lot more about the game (tricks, secrets, skill setups)" yes, I did learn. The persons question was if the game was hard/complicated. I gave them my answer, and my opinion. I'd like to point out something in case Pooyanh didn't understand. Complicated does not mean hard.

Jeanne D'Arc isn't complicated at all. FFT, the difficulty may prove to be harsh on new srpgers, but it has a balanced difficulty. Some of the advanced jobs may be complicated, but nothing more.

Jeanne D'Arc is really easy compared to Final Fantasy Tactics-War of the Lions. FFT is hard at first, but after a while, you can get the hang of it. Both games are awesome.
