I'm about to get a psp go, and i've got about 12 psone games downloaded on my ps3. I know they are also psp compatible, however i DO have some control issues i want to ask.

How will games like MGS or Abe Odysee work on the psp, considering the psp does not have the l2/r2 buttons?

While there's an option of remapping the controls however you want, generally you'll assign either the R2/L2 buttons or R1/L1 buttons to a D-pad press or one of the directions on the analog stick (depending on which control scheme you've chosen). If you have a PSP Go synced with a DS3/Sixaxis, it will use all the buttons correctly, which is great if you're outputting to a TV.

With the PSP GO you can connect your dualshock/sixaxis ( if you have one ) with bluetooth and play the psp games and ps one games on your psp wirelessly with the ps3 controller. If you dont have a ps3 controller, i find it to controll a little awkward

the analog stick takes the place of L2/R2 left for L2, right for R2 and up for Both.; or you can switch it and have the D-pad be the buttons and the analog be movement

What's the point in outputting to a TV since i have a ps3, i can just play it on the ps3 right? I was asking for the psp go, you know, being PORTABLE and all.

10x anyway

well i wouldnt recommend using the ps3 controller, that would just be odd. and if you only have 2 hands, where do you put the psp?

but anyways, I have Crash Bandicoot on my psp and it plays great. Since the game doesnt need the L2 and R2 buttons it plays identical to the original. but i could imagine some of the later ps1 games being a pain. i would stay away from games that use all the buttons, require a good analog stick(s), or both. true you can remap the buttons to pressing L or R + select too Fyi. but that just feels akward and isnt very easy to do while playing. and there's no way to add a second analog stick, the psp just doesnt have 2.

You'll want to make note of this control set-up, then. Pause the game with the 'Home' button after the game loads, and change the controller set-up to "Custom" and input the following set:

DpadUp = Triangle Button

Dpad Dn = L2

Dpad Lft = Square Button

Dpad Rt = Circle Button

Nub Up = Dpad Up

Nub Dn = Dpad Dn

Nub Lft = Dpad Lft

Nub Rt = Dpad Rt

Triangle Button = Unassigned

Circle Button = R1

X Button = Unassigned (or Leave as X for easier menu selection confirmation otherwise you need to rememberto use the Rt Shoulder button)

Square Button = L1

Left Shoulder = R2

Right Shoulder = X Button

This makes the game very playable... the default schemes are crazy and you'll wish you hadn't purchased the game. That's the way I felt until I got this control set-up together, and now I LOVE the game!!! Hope this is helpful.

o okay Master Splinter, but where would the second analog stick be assigned to since he said that he plays medal of honor... unless you can map the controls the same way as the PSP medal of honor.

The first MoH, for the PS1, used shoulders for strafe, etc. and if you try my control set-up you will see how it's been accounted for. with my control scheme you can easily strafe, call up your iron sites, and the movement works out pretty much like the PSP titles. Try it, you'll see that it all works well and makes the PS1 Klassic (because we can't usethe actual spelling of the "C" word here now) Title workable on the PSP.

Thanks for the control layout, works very well. The only thing I changed from your controls was Nub Lt=L1, Nub Rt=R1, Square=Dpad Lt, and Circle=Dpad Rt. That will make the game play more like a modern day FPS. The only problem with this is the aiming controls, if you can get used to that like I have then the game is very enjoyable.

Yeah, the aiming is whyI have it set the way I do... I started out with the buttons more like "MoH Heroes" but the aiming (it then forces you to use buttons for up-down and the stick for left-right) became an issue which I personally got around but I didn't want to hand over a button map which expected such weirdness from the average player and that's when I shifted it to the above mapping.

Glad I could help! Play On!
