I bought Silent Hill: Origins since release, and ever since then, I never really played it due to how freaky the damn game is. I'm not a little kid or anything, i'm 18 years old for a matter of fact, but i'm just wondering how you guys play the silent hill games, they're so freaky...

I dunno, I'm not really that much of a fan but yeah you're right it is really freaky

When I was playing it, I had two other games so I could get it out of my system (Disgaea & Tekken),

Cause if I would've only been playing SHO, I would've ended up a bit more messed up

Haha yeah, out of 10 (10 being the scariest) what would you rate the games overall scariness?

Whats even worse was the other night it was about 2am & i couldnt sleep so i grabed my psp & without cheaking fired up whatever game was in it. Turns out Silent Hill was the game & at 2am in the dark with headphones on isnt a good time to play the game at all. It freaked me out big time, so much so i didnt end up getting much sleep at all that night.

About how long is the game in hours.GlockXIII

Not too long, it takes around 5 hours to complete the first time through. Its about the same length as GOW: COO.

As for the game being scary, being a long term fan of the series I can see where you are coming from. The game is more freaky than genuinely scary, it relies more on atmosphere than anything else (though the flashback sequences always made me jump when they appeared, they come out of nowhere). It is no where near as creepy as SH 1-3, now those were scary. If you enjoyed this then I strongly recommend you try the originals.

Some people are more sensitive to "freaky" than others. Other than a few "something jumps out at you out of nowhere" moments, I've been able to cruise right through each Silent Hill game I've played. Also seen the movie about 15 times.

I'm not that far into it and it's pretty freaky. I played last night in the dark and I was fine. No where as creepy as SH1. I've jumped a few times though :P. Good game though.

I remember playing Silent Hill for PS1 for the first time back in the day. I often played it at night in the basement with all the lights off. My favourite parts were the load times, because the whole basement would go pitch black and I'd get even more freaked out. Good times. Terrifying series.

What really makes Silent Hill scary to people is that it's pretty "distrubing"...I remember playing the original RE on my PS1 when it came out when I was 15 I think, with 4 of my friends, and even then it freaked the hell outta us, because none of us had really experienced a game like that....When Silent Hill 2 came out, I had become attoned to gore, violence, and the "shock" surprise moments, but then "atomosphere" became scary as hell with it's music and disturbing storylines and gameplay....and I'll be honest, Silent Hill 3 scared the hell outta me, and I'm a grown ass man.....not only was it gorey (without being over-the-top in that "silly" manner), but the atmosphere was beyond creepy, the sound design was horrifying, and the camera angles and in-game cinemas were beautifully crafted to make you cream your pants, but only from the wrong end.

In all honesty, Silent Hill on the PSP isn't really bad at all; definately not the scariest....and since I'm usually playing it while on the move, or in a crowded environment...not a home, at 12 am, in front of my big screen, with the lights out, and the wife at work.

But in the end, I'm one of those horror fanatics that who gets his thrills from the scary stuff that pushes the envelope. I love horror movies and games like Silent Hill, Condemned, Clock Tower, System Shock, & Fatal Frame...honestly, if it doesn't scare you, then it failed as a horror game/film.

You know, I haven't played the games... I've played RE, ED, and D2. But anyways, did anyone else start laughing out loud during the movie when those toddlers started chasing her? It was the perfect scene to start playing the Chicken Dance Song!
