I have a fat PS3 that I want to sell and buy me a PS3 Slim. Whats the easiest way to transfer the data? Can I just switch the hard drives? maybe use a male to male usb cable? I would really hate to have to reinstall and redownload games and such. Thanks,

First off what type of fat PS3 do you have??? Now you can either use a thumb drive or a portable HDD to transfer you data. As for game's your going to have to reinstall them.

I just used a flash drive and copied every file from there, onto my new harddrive. Some game saves thought, won't let you copy due to copyright infringement or something (rockband was one of them on mine I believe).

I got the 40GB one when it came out. I swapped the hdd. Would it be better to just copy or use the backup utility? any pros and cons?
