PS3 is a great system that is worth purchasing. IMO it is just as fun as the 360 in every way, only with different games. There's no Halo, but it has Resistance. No Gears of War, but there is Metal Gear Solid 4 comming out. May not have Bioshock, but Killzone 2 looks VERY promising. Getting on in early 2008 would be the key time to purchase one, since you'll have a good list of already released games, and a good line of new ones that will be comming out. And for $400 for an awesome game console, Wi-Fi built in, free online play, and a Blueray Player, you really can't go wrong.
And PSN is not rubbish in the least. It does what it needs to do to enjoy online gameing. You get to play for free, you get game add-ons, and downloadable demo's, trailers, and games. Not as big as XBL, but it does it's justice with an affordable price of nothing. In the end, don't listen to Xbox-only finatics. Video games arn't politics, so you can enjoy the best of both world, and all three next gen systems are worth a purchase.
