My first one died. Sony took care of that right away, Once I sent it back to Sony (no cost to me) a second one came in about 4 days on a Saturday no less and I haven't had a trouble.
I rented Smackdown vs. Raw(I like the create a player and story mode) and it freezes everytime I try to start a match with my created player, I figured out it's cuz the PS3 for some reason doesn't load up my character's intro, which sucks cuz it's the only reason I even mess with Smackdown vs. Raw, cuz I don't even like wrestling anymore...
My PS3 hasn't frozen once, or had any problems, really. But then I'm pretty lucky with consoles...my PS2, which I've had since its launch, hasn't had a single problem, either...
My PS3 is a mother chugger aswell, I had a 20gb ps3 but after a week where it froze 4 times i decided it was not working out so i sent it in a got a 60gb back :) its been smooth sailing ever since playing fight night round 3 right now and p.s that 360 vs ps3 screen shot comparison was not very accurat the game looks that much better right now when im playing it.
I just got mine 60GB, it's doing fine. The very first time I turned it on, played resistance. But when I tried to go to the home screen, it froze up while going home. So I restarted it. I've played and gone home 3 times now with no problems after the very first time. Plus my firmware is only 1.31....

I have 1.31 as well until my ISP ships some stuff to my house for hooking up PSN, then i'll get the updates, but as far as freezing, hasn't happened to me.
the only time it really freezes on me is when im browsing the web, but other then that it runs perfect ...i even leave the system on all day sometimes !
I agree, the graphics look amazing. I've played both versions and the ps3 blew it away. people better start giving the ps3 more credit, it's games arent that great now but in a year i'm sure publishers will learn how to use the ps3's hardware to it's full extent and blow everyone away

Yeah, IGN's review said that COD3 for teh PS3 will make ur PS3 lock up...so it's not the system's fault, it's the game's.
I'm willing to bet that over 95% of the PS3's lock ups come from this game alone, so don't fret about the PS3 freezin on ya.
I dont have a ps3 yet but i am getting one in march but i have a xbox 360 and any time i am about to play DOA4 it usally freeze on me and it the game that cause it so the same thing could be happen to some ps3
