I've been achin' to play some classic ps2 games lately, and seeing as how my PS3 is not backwards compatible, my only hope is for Sony to start putting those games for digial downlaod via the PSN store. Any idea if it's happening, and when?

Well considering most ps2 games are 5-7 gigs, it might be a while before we see them become widely available.

Most people have limited hard drive space to begin with.

Plus the PS3 might not be powerful enough to emulate a PS2 using software... hence the extra chipset in the previous models...

I don't think that memory would be big issue, considering that Red Faction Guerilla (Good game btw) was about 6.5 gigs downloaded from the PSN Store; and that was a pretty big game.

yea thats a pretty good point. if every ps3 system had BC i could have seen it happening but the way sony scrapped it just to sell more ps2s kinda messed that up. if they woulda just kept it they coulda sold alotta ps2 content on the psn because you can always upgrade to a way bigger hard drive. if that was offered i know alot of people would buy it i personally would

We'll have Ps2 games for download when Ps4 console becomes available. Don't quote me on that though.

I would not say most I would say the larger games because alot of PS3 games are still under 10 gigs. But there is no official word on PS2 games.

But they would just make more money if they were downloadable. examples infamous still sells well on shelved but its downloadable, as well as red faction. sorry but no winner there

I have also wondered the same.

I just don't think they are going to really push it until the PS2 is finally cancelled...which I really hope is soon.

Imagine if they cancel it (PS2)and then magically bring back backwards compatability? One can dream eh?

Sony MUST release the DMC trilogy reworked in HD on one bluray disk!
