It can be beat in 3 hours if you skip all cutscenes and pretty much run through the entire game as fast as you can without killing anyone on Big Boss Extreme. You get the best emblem and the Big Boss Mask Camo. Yes it can be beat under 5 hours if you speed through it and pretty much don't do anything but time the patterns of the soldiers and run/sneak past them. That's not the problem that I have with what he said though. He said his friend said you can beat it in 2 hours. That's all he said which he is basically saying the whole entire game doesn't have anything to it.When you first play the game it will take you about 20+ hours or so that is including cut-sense, once you get used to the game you will be able to finish it under 15 hours including cut-sense.
Without cut-sense it will take you less than 6 hours and if you are that good you can even beat it under 4 hours, don't listen to those who say you can't finish the game under 5 or 4 hours because in the game in order for you to earn a certain emblem you need to beat it in under 5 hours on a higher difficulty which is challenging but not hard to do.
there is a lot of weapons you can find/buy during the game but you only find yourself using a small number of those as well as ipod songs that you come across as you proceed through the game.
If you are interested in the game then go on ahead and buy it , but if you are only interested because of the score 10/10 then big mistake, the game is great and fun but not 10/10 in my opinion.

Which is not true and I have never seen the game beaten under 3 hours. It's pretty much impossible at this point. If you take your time and don't speed run through it and get everything out of the experience, which is a great experience I might add, it takes about a good 15 to 20+ hours. His friend over exaggerated and apparently isn't a fan of the game.

Thats the problem I had, my 1st play through was 15-16 hrs with cutscenes. Most of time was watching cutscenes and installing between acts. when people say dont rush and stuff, in this case I don't like that argument. MGS4 lacked meaningful gameplay. There was no reason to interact with the soldiers in the 1st 2 acts. Octacon really made clear when i played through the game the second time.[QUOTE="Star650"]

You gottabe kidding me? The liquid fight was a QTE and that microwave tunnel was just pressing the button for awhile. This is what I actually mean by meanigful gameplay. Act 1- The 1st actual meaningful thing you had to do was team up with fox hound to fight those frogs. The majority of the act you didnt had to interact with the soldiers. Act 2- Boss fight and Follow footsteps Act 3- Follow a guy, Bike chase and Boss fight. Between all that was hrs and hrs of cutscenes Act 4- 3 Boss Fights ACt 5- 2 Boss fightsYeaaaa, 20 hours on first playthrough is total short............and the variety of the Acts, boss battles that are new yet still call back to previous games, the microwave tunnel and fight with Liquid is definitely NOT meaningful gameplay at all [QUOTE="anime_gamer007"]

Yea, I've become convinced of that as well.back @PSP107
The Liquid fight wasn't even close to being a QTE, it's a full on fight, you know, you actually have to move around and play carefully. There's was no "press button, not to die" which is exactly what a QTE is. You've done nothing in your argument but attempt to break the game down to the absolute basics with no context. You're right the microwave tunnel is only pushing a button BUT at the same time it's showing what's happening to all the characters, how everyone's close to death and relying on Snake save them, who himself is running solely on will power, it's a powerful scene because of the context. BTW it's MGS, it's a stealth game, you're not suppose to "interact" with soldiers beyond choking them out or shooting them in the face, that's why it's STEALTH. At the same time if you want to be more combat focus and play it like a shooter, that mechanics welcome that. Did you play the previous games? Did you even like them?
Back on topic, while these 2 bicker.
It's long enough to where it'll keep your interest throughout the whole game, but not too long to where you'll feel like its neverending, and becoming overhwelming. I'd probably say on a 1st playthrough your looking at easily 24hrs+ and that's being generous (some boss fights take time to figure out, like vamp for eg.).... Skipping cutscenes in this game is taboo.
Enjoy.

The liquid fight played more like a QTE. Im sure im not only who saw press R1. After a few punches, they break. Compared this fight vs the liquid fight in MGS1. now thats was actual gameplay. And your "same time it's showing what's happening to all the characters, how everyone's close to death and relying on Snake save them" is subjective. sure I like the scene but it was more of an interactive scene. Sure the game was stealth, but if you played MGS1/MGS2, those games had alot of objectives before you can progress. you get 20 hours because of cutscenes not because of gameplay, skip all cutscenes and you will easily get 4-6 hours. btw the microwave tunnel...yeah because its very meaningful to just go straight tapping the triangle button in a completly scripted sequence (snake wont die/fail if you stop tapping...nor will he "win" if you tap too fast)@ Brawler-Dude The game is short. sure you can extend the gameplay length but I don't find collecting songs for Snake's Ipod meaningful gameplay.
