With cutscenes, and are the cutscenes boring? Will I be able to have as much fun if I don't watch the cutscenes?

The cutscenes are Amazing. its about 15 hours. but if you havnt played the other games you wont understand the story. but without the cutscens you wont know whats going on and why your doing anything. With cutscenes, and are the cutscenes boring? Will I be able to have as much fun if I don't watch the cutscenes?

MGS4 IS LONG VEY LONG, even without the cutscenes. The cutscenes are great to watch becasue there are like a movie. Also you will not understand what is going on if you do not watch the cutscenes.

How long though?
Im not going to lie to you but the cutscene for the ENDING is about 55 mins long.....seriously.
You could probably beat the SP campaign in under 5 hours without cutscenes, hell there is an emblem for doing that on BB Extreme mode. With cutscenes, and if you take the time to explore, plan and otherwise play the way you should, it could get well over 15 hours, maybe over 20 if you watch every cutscene, and they aren't boring if you have been following the story and previous games, even if you haven't they are still good to watch.
Great replay value though I will say, tons of guns and gear to unlock.

More than 20 hours.its very short skipping the cut scenes. Prob the shortest game of all the MGS games all together, but around 99.7% of the people found it to be the best. I enjoyed it, shame it had to end.....for now that is, no one knows exactly who, and what will happen in MGS5, thats if they do make it. Im sure you will enjoy it, if you still are concerened, wait till it drops in price =]MickeyminimeMgs rising baby!!! :). and it already has dropped in price to $29.
its only long on mega hard mode, and when you watch cut scenes. With out the cut scenes, you could complete it in less than 2hours. Im sure to get big boss rank you need to complete it in 3-4 hours etcMGS4 IS LONG VEY LONG, even without the cutscenes. The cutscenes are great to watch becasue there are like a movie. VERY LONG!!! lol :P
without cutscenes, it can be finished in under 5 hours.. but your 1st playthrough with cutscenes would probably be closer to 15-20 hours.
the cutscenes are amazing (and so is the gameplay)
OP, MGS4's campaign length depends on what you decide to do in the game plus the cutscenes which are long enough for you to kick back and watch it comfortably. Many say that MGS4 is short on the gameplay dept, but fail to realize that it depends on how you play the game. For example, if you play on Big Boss Hard mode and you decide to play most of the game in a stealthy way, then it may take much more time to finish the game instead of going ZOMG all guns blazing like Rambo or somthing. This also supports the case if you die a lot including during the boss fights.
I dont see how u ppl can justify MGS4's 3-5 hr solo campaign .PSP107because most people finish with around 10 hours of gameplay?
on the higher difficulties, you'll only get less than 5 hours of gameplay if youre on a speed run
I dont see how u ppl can justify MGS4's 3-5 hr solo campaign .PSP107I don't know what you're on but MGS4 is not 3-5 hours I don't care how you speed walk through it. It's more on the lines of 10 hours or so without the cutscenes, if you go through fast and aren't stealthy.

More than 20 hours. no it isnt. Seriously, unless you suck though. MGS1 and 2 were both 12 hours, but with 3-4 hours of cutscenese in EACH game. MGS4 is about 12-15. However, has about 5 hours of scenes.because most people finish with around 10 hours of gameplay?[QUOTE="PSP107"]I dont see how u ppl can justify MGS4's 3-5 hr solo campaign .Sword-Demon

My 1st play through clocked in at 16 hrs. If i take away the cutscenes and the exploring which by the way was nonthing to explore could easily become 3-5 hrs. I'm currently stuck fighting Metal Ray on boss extreme. I died alot on boss extreme but it doesn't make the game long. what kind of excuse is that.[QUOTE="PSP107"]I dont see how u ppl can justify MGS4's 3-5 hr solo campaign .gamer082009I don't know what you're on but MGS4 is not 3-5 hours I don't care how you speed walk through it. As I said earlier in the thread, I beat the game in a little over 2 1/2 hours on my BBE run. That means, 0 kills, 0 alerts, 0 deaths, and don't use either the Bandana (Unlimited ammo), or Invisibility, etc. I ran straight through the game quite easily, AND I remained unseen the entire time.
Without cutscenes, the game is actually insultingly short. Unless you play on extreme difficulty, no kills or some other stupid combination used to try and extend gameplay time. I would say 2 - 4 hours, MGS fanboys will probably try to tell you more, but it really isn't. The cutscenes drag on, and unless you've played the whole series and have a good understanding of the sotryline, I suggest you skip the mission briefings and parts to do with the patriots etc., they are REALLY boring.
Take if from me rather than from some fanboy. It's a good game, but quite short without cutscenes (and not all of the cutscenes are terribly interesting).
on your secound play threw if you skip all the cute scenes id say its maybe 7 or 8 hours. Not really all that long IMHO but it is a game you should exp. as far as wether ornot the cut scenes are boreing, well thats a matter of opinion. i felt overall they were great. some were a bit boreing to watch but again over all i would ratherhave them than not. they deepen the story and characters. Its a verywell made game. it is def not perfect but still one of the greats

And i was really offended by the final boss fight with liquid. QTEs? Now how can anybody defend that? i suggest the TC to play MGS1 and 2. MGS2's story is stupid but had diverse gameplay like MGS1. 3 was more straightforward[QUOTE="gamer082009"][QUOTE="PSP107"]I dont see how u ppl can justify MGS4's 3-5 hr solo campaign .Doolz2024
Well if your playing it casually it's a pretty long game, will give you a couple days of good ol' fun ! :D The cutscenes are very very long, I think there is like 2 hours of cutscenes total or something like that.

First playthrough : about 18 hours with ALL the cutscenes.
If you haven't played the first MGS games, you might find them a bit (a LOT) puzzling. I didn't when I first played the game and I still enjoyed it, great great game. Now I'm going through MGS1, 2 and 3 (just started number 3). MGS1 was 11:28 and MGS2 about 12:38
I'm guessing it (MGS4) would take less than 6-7 hours without the cutscenes.

MGS4 is not short, speed runs make every game look short. MGS4 length is actually spot on, first playthough should clock up near to 20 hours of play including cutscene, wow MGS4 sounds short but still its probably gonna be the first game i get when i get my ps3.

Excluding cutscenes, MGS4 is a 10 hour game AT MOST. I could take my time and not even try to beat the game quickly. yet I'd still probably finish in less than 10 hours.

Fair enough, not including cutscene MGS4 is around 10-12 hours, but if you are a HUGE MGS fan like me you can easily make the gameplay last 15-16 hours ;)Please Log In to post.
