Im totally getting Matrix and Pirates of the Caribbean though
EmperorSupreme
Matrix is going to be HD-DVD exclusive according to the the studio. Pirates will be out on Blu-Ray on May 22 :)
MATRIX is not HD-DVD exclusive. The reason it's coming out on HD-DVD first is something about the Blu-ray camp not having their act together concerning Java interactive environment which is needed to run some of the extra content. The only studio backing HD-DVD is Universal. Everyone else is behind Blu-ray.Â

"Blu-ray Disc versions of both collections will be released later this year."

If you go out to Best Buy, print out the Target Online price and they'll match it, making it $66.99 instead of $99.9, that's what I did.

[QUOTE="****"]How are Blu-Ray's compared to DVD's? for qualitypeter360
I wont ever buy another dvd again if that tells you anything on the quality comparison. Its a whole new level of depth when watching movies.
What kind of TV do you have? Because I only have a 1080i, will there be a big difference in blu ray movie quality versus dvd quality??[QUOTE="TM1"]None so far, although i am gonna be picking up Planet Earth probably tomorrow. I work at Best Buy and actually got it for that price with my employee discount. Picked it up today, looks incredible. My mom isn't into the whole HD thing and she doesn't see the difference between standard definition and HD. I showed her some scenes and for the first time she said that looks really good. My dad was really impressed with it as well. Â

I have an upconverting DVD player that upconverts DVD's to 1080i and blu ray still has an overall cleaner image. I am gonna keep the upconverter still because i still have many DVD's and they look like crap if i play it on the 360 or ps3 since it only runs in 480p which looks horrible when you get used to HD. Hopefully there will be that firmware update where DVD"s upconvert through the PS3, i'll get rid of my upconverter whenever that firmware is released.Â

720p, 1080i, 1080p will all look miles ahead of DVD, not just in resolution, but better colors, better compression (meaning no visible artifacts) etc.
720p/1080i, please, why oh why do people still say that, it's one or the other unless you have a rare old expensive crt tube tv, otherwise, you'll just confuse the masses that they can do both.
Just because a tv says it supports both doesn't mean it displays both. So for example, a 32inch LCD that supports both, but that doesn't mean it goes upto to 1080i or is a 720p/1080i tv, it only means it will accept 1080i. Like most LCDs, they have their one native progressive resolution, which for a 32inch usually would be 1366*768, basically 768p (easier to mass produce than 720p). Only way to display 1080i at full resolution on a progressive display like LCD, or every other display but CRT, needs to have a full 1080p resolution.
1. Blazing Saddles
2. The Covenant
3. The Fifth Element
4. Gridiron Gang
5. Kingdom of Heaven
6. A Knight's Tale
7. Lady in the Water
8. The Pursuit of Happyness
9. Superman: The Movie
10. Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut
11. Talladega Nights
