None. Don't get me wrong, I don't think the Dual Shock 3 is a well made controller - it feels hollow, creaks when you grip it tightly and has sticks that noticeably loosen over time. But I've never broken one. I only broke one of my old Dual Shock 2s, but that's because one of the buttons stopped working, I took it apart, and when I put it back together again nothing worked.DJ_Lae

This, none broken so far but i really do feel that these controller are really weak especially when compared to the original PS1 controllers which imo were near indestructible

Due to fight nights Rd 4's total punch control, the right analog stick on my controller has broken a piece of the plastic that surrounds the stick. So now the right stick doesn't rotate smoothly (which makes overhand rights and upper cuts feel a bit strange, as well as blocking high....). Other than that it works fine. But the thing is, I've only owned this PS3 for only 2 months, and probably have over 200 hours in that game, and the controller is already falling apart. Think I'm going to buy another from best buy with their extended waranty and just keep exhanging them as that right stick eats the pastic around it.... or the cap comes off.

Fight night series on the PS2 I had a different problem... that rubber cap on the right analog stick would always come off on that right stick. And honestly I like the PS2 controller more than the PS3. Analog sticks on the Duelshock 2's had more resistance..... Duel Shock 3's analog sticks are too sensitive. Probably why that plastic around the right stick broke so fast. And why the rubber caps would always come off from the DuelShock 2's....

Anyway, fight night has always eaten the right stick.... In the course of about 7 years I've gone through about 6 contollers on the PS2, All of them minus the rubber cap on the right analog stick. And about 4 of them having a rumble motor out as well.

The only controller I have is the one that came with my PS3 at launch.:P Aside from a slightly uncentered left analog stick I've yet to break it.:D

If I ever throw it it usually is aimed at the cushion of my comfy couch.:P

I didn't expect so many people to reply to this. It seems as if people have learned their lesson from past systems. If anyone needs to know, Amazon has controller sales all the time. I can usually get a new one for around 25-30 dollars.

Wow, I've never broken a controller on any console out of rage. I did wear out one PS2 controller though. Of course, I'm not 13 and don't throw a temper tantrum if I get a negative K/D in a CoD match... so that could be it too.

I still have the two sixaxises that I bought in 2006.

Needless to say, I take good care of my things.

Edit: Actually the analog stick does get stuck on one controller, but that happens to every controller with an analog stick over time.

One broke by itself. Im not sure how it happened either, the controller just kept flashing but it never really turned on even when i tried to charge it the controller still didnt work. But this controller was the first one that came with the ps3 before it had dual shock on it. I haven't had any problems with the dual shock ones though.

None, I'm lucky I haven't broken my thigh bone though, but it's probably the most...resilient place to hit. I don't hit THAT hard, just enough to make me regret doing it.

Haven't broken any of my controllers, but 2 of them (the sixaxis and Dualshock) got messed up over time. The Sixaxis left analog stick constantly moves left and the Dualshock doesn't work...except for when I plug it into my PC. Not sure how it happened, but I had to go out and buy a third party controller which has been working fairly well...except it doesn't do me much good for games that require the Sixaxis (AT3 being an example). Well at least I can still play Blazblue and AH3.

/agree and why do people assume that you have to get mad to break a controller? For instance if you have a month of play time on every COD since COD 4 there's a fair chance that with the default controls you've broken or are about to break the L3 button. Or play Gran Turismo 5 with L2/R2 as gas and brake chances are you'll wear down the R2 trigger. There's far more ways to break a controller with normal use than throwing it across the room.

I just broke my first PS3 controller today playing DmC, the challenge room where enemies only take damage in certain areas. I spiked it into the floor and felt stupid before the pieces even finished raining down. Most of the rage came from the fact that I got a $200 ticket for a rolling stop at a stop sign while coming home with the game. So far DmC has cost me over $300. Broke plenty of NES, PS1 and PS2 controllers though, I have to be close to double digits.

Only one. I didn't break it. I think my youngest kid stepped on it and wrecked both trigger assemblies. Sony should redesign the triggers housing like the 360 controller where the controller housing supports the weight and not the triggers as in the DS3.

Zero. Unless you count dead Blu tooth batteries. My first sixaxis Controller blu tooth battery has died. The controller still works as a wired one with the cable attached. I had this controller since when sixaxis were included with PS3's

But I have not bothered getting a new battery for it. I just bought Dualshock 3's to replace my sixaxis controllers.

I used to have two, now I only have one. I was playing Catherine and I don't know... I didn't save correctly (because I thought I was at a point where it would auto-save) and realized when I got back in the game that I was a few chapters back. So after all that frustration and getting silver rewards etc. I abused my controller. After 5-10 mins or so the left analog stick sank in and was just broke beyond repair. The rest worked though, but I couldn't use it anymore.
