how many trophies do u consider good and how many do u consider sad?

I currently have 28 trophies, most all of which I did not shoot for at all. I have had the system since december of 06. I think it is sad that people buy games just because it has trophies and do not buy games because they don't have it. That shows that you aren't into games for fun, you just play to be competitive which is lame. It's not like you get a prize or anything for getting them so who cares really? I have 23 bronze 4 silver and one gold. I don't buy games hardly at all.

I'm happy with the amount I have :)

Just because some one has a large collection, and enjoys playing them makes them sad?

I think trophies are a way to gain more replay value to a game.

but I'm not gonna buy a game because it has easy trophies or something like that.

Like now in the summer I'm saving money, so the games that have trophies I try to complete them so I have something to play, or I just play Oblivion :P

I think once your platinums start reaching double digits, then its sad. By 2010 the new "sad" limit will be in the 20's.

I laughed so hard reading through this thread. I don't know what insight into people's lives you guys have to dismiss their having over 1000 trophies as "sad" and/or "lifeless" I don't know if you guys have discovered this yet but not everyone has the same job, budget and gaming skills you do. I think jealousy is rearing its ugly head in this thread....now that's what I'd consider sad.

to TC, where have you been? you just brought a ps3 or finally made a psn account? you tried to offend other gamers because you're late to have most of the released games or can't afford? trophy and achievement are now part of the video games, don't assault on fellow gamers.

There is no "sad" number. If people like collecting them, that's their choice. If you don't then that's your choice. People having a different view on Trophies to you does not make someone "sad".

You're on a videogame forum calling a person who plays videogames sad because he plays videogames?:roll: Just because you have a lot of trophies doesn't mean you're sad and wanting to achieve them doesn't make you sad either. Trophies also don't reflect playing time. A person with 1000+ trophies doesn't mean they have no life. It just means they have bought a lot of games/rented a lot of games and that they tried for a lot of trophies in those games.

Ummm....the number of trophies is unimportant. It's the motivation behind acquiring them. If they were earned for fun, and in efforts of experienceing the game in a new way, then they're fine. If they were earned for a bigger number on your trophy card, then they're incredibly sad. raven_squad

I think it gets sad when you are buying games just to boost your trophy level -- like seeing a 28-year-old guy buying Hannah Montana for an easy platinum trophy. I see the value in the trophy system, but I don't know who you're impressing by saying "Hey, I played a Hannah Montana game even though I'm a heterosexual male who ought to be out meeting women instead of pretending to be one!"

Personally, I've got like 10 platinum trophies. I've sorta always been a gamer, but I've gotten deeper into it since getting out of school because it encourages me to stay in rather than go out and blow through every paycheck I earn. The trophy system encourages me to stick with games longer than I normally would and replay them and such, which makes me less inclined to go out and buy new ones, y'know? But if I buy 15 games and platinum 2/3 of them, that's my prerogative and whether or not some Jr. High loner thinks it's sad isn't going to ruin my day... what's with some of you people getting so bent about it? lol.

I don't got much trophies, because the only game im plain right now is Little Big Planet (You never get tired of it). And I already earned all the throphies. So i keep playing for fun. Playing games, just to earn trophies is sad. You don't have any fun, ur just playing to earn trophies.

Plus, the coolness of the trophies is that you are playing a game, you do a trick or something, and thenu earn it unexpectedly. Thats whats makes you feel acomplished, not just doing everything thats in the trophies list.

I'm still contemplating how Achivements became such a big deal that we got Trophies.

Idk, doesn't really matter. My friend has 17 yet that's not sad... It's probably because he likes playing a lot and owns a Ps3 for a while.

Why is everyone still arguing about this? This thread has already been finished. thanks to thelastguy. Were all sad for posting on a video game forum. Why do we go around asking what games we will be getting at this and this holiday? Why do we watch trailers and anticipate teh release of games? Why do we proorder games? Why do we keep in track with games so much that we buy games the SAME DAY they come out? Thats sad.
