We all no that the ps3 will be in short supply when it hits the shelve in march(Europe). But how many weeks do you recon it will be in short supply for. Considering sonys statement of 6 million consoles worldwide by the end of march they should have most of there bases covered. I reckon it will be three to four months before you can pick one up at a store with out the out of stock sign in the window. considering all the preorders are meet. lets hope sony can fill the shelves and not keep the fans waiting to long!

3 - 4 months? That would be much longer if not 3 months longer than it was here in the US...PS3s where in stock in stores everywhere by Christmas only one month after its November release...unless the UK or EU launch is insanely successful I dont for see many people being forced to wait more than a couple weeks...I walked into a store about a week or so after launch and picked up a PS3...I really doubt it will be that different in Europe...
youve got remember that with the ps2 sonys biggest market in europe was the uk so there is alot of sony console owners over here.i think it will be a sell out for a long time as long as the price doesnt change peoples mind!
id say from 2 weeks to a month if i had to guess, but its kinda pointless to even try as no one has any idea how much they plan to ship and for that matter how much they will actually ship
cooper182: Yeah, I have to agree with you about the PS2 being popular, Almost everyone I know apart from my grandparents has a PS2 (I'm serious, my friends, most of my extended family, everyone on my MSN account.... everyone and their mothers). But that says nothing about the PS3 sales.
i dont thinik you guys will be in short supply... they will make sure everyone that wants one is gonna get it.. they cant flop on all the hype they have in europe

I'm not sure how many PS3 will be launched in the U.K. Did Sony give a number on how many PS3 will be launched for Europe? It should definitely be more then the U.S. I would think. If they launch with 500,000, I'd say the shortage should last 4-6 weeks before PS3 start piling up at retailers again.
I went to my local EBGames yesterday and they had a small and large sign in their window saying, "PS3 Are Now Available". So I went inside and asked them if they had any Wii's and the guy tells me, "No."
HAHAHA is this a joke? The PS3 will be the first console ever not to sell out. Amazon who sold out their Wii pre-orders in 7 minutes are still, after weeks taking pre-orders for PS3 at launch. Most high street stores still have plenty of pre-orders for launch. I would say some areas might get a bit low, maybe massive cities but on the whole the PS3 will be available to buy from day 1.
It has been comfirmed the UK will be getting around 220,000 PS3's on March 23rd. As comfirmed on Gamespot (lost link), The Playstation Official magasine UK, and PSM3
