Alot of people ask me when I'll "grow out of video gaming"... I just say that I'll stop gaming when I don't enjoy it anymore. And that isn't anytime soon!hrt_rulz01First, my heart goes out to you parra supporter. As the parra motto goes " there is always next year". Second I whole heartedly agree. I'll stop gaming when I decide that something else will fill my time better. There is a stigma that games are for kids, but I'm 30 and love being a kid. Some of my mates don't get it, but I say, "I love what I do, and I do what I love".
Well "maturity" will never be a limiting factor to my gaming
I do notice that as i grow older what i learn in experience i seem to lose in reflexes. i can easily breeze through the static enviroment of Demons souls but i do notice a bigger learning curve when going back to my more reflex oriented action games
Not to mention online FPS wich is getting borderline depressing :P

I told him well its either video games or i start smoking, drinking, partying, doing drugs and generally being like the rest of people my age... He hasn't hassled me about anything video game related since...
You're 31?? Dude, when you were born I was 12. 1978ish? I'm 1966 vintage and at 43 have NOOOO plans to give up gaming any time soon. If someone is "forcing" you into doing what they want then you may want to reconsider the relationship or put your foot down. I'm single these days & date women my own age. I never hesitate to tell them I'm a geek. The right ones find it somewhat attractive, & those that disapprove don't stay in my contacts book for very long. You have to be yourself. I also play some guitar gigs on weekends & whatnot. It's nice extra cash. Chicky doesn't like?? Too bad. Move on hon because there are plenty who don't mind my gaming/gigging. You need to find someone who won't try to change you or give you disaproving feedback. It will only lead to a split or if you manage to let yourself be forced, that resentment will always be in the back of your mind. It's not good.
[QUOTE="Benny_Blakk"]Do your parents still pay your bills? Will your sexy lady not want to be with you if you ever play games? If she wont be with you because your gaming, pick a hobby/habit of hers and tell her she must quit it if she wants to be with you. See how that goes over.LMAO I like your line of thinking.Perhaps "forced" was a poor choice of wording. More like it draws the ire of the sexy ladies. lol
My parents aren't too keen on it either.
Dilrod
Seriously, if I lived with my parents at 31 and were still gaming, THEN I could see a real problem.
Believe it or not, the women possibly will lose interest over it because their actions are often dictated by their friends opinion. Once they all cast the vote that they don't like something about you, its a done deal.
Spoken like a true gamer! I'm 25 & I don't plan on stopping. I will be in Heaven with Musashi Miyamoto playing Samurai Showdown!Never too old.

I'm 31 and unfortunately, i'm being forced out of gaming due to age, which sucks considering the fact that I don't have kids. Now I do have a love life, but I don't let the PS3 interfere.
Its just odd that something so casual can draw such criticism.
Im 33, get laid, and I play my PS3/PC.Well I'm 29 and play more games now than I did 15 years ago. By the way I'm married and have a full time job.
I'm 30 years young and I'm still an active gamer. I'll probably be a gamer well into my golden years. Gaming is just a hobby for me that's purely entertainment. Is there an age limit in having a fun hobby?
I guess it can be a bad thing if that is all you do and it totally consumes your life. Now if you can still do things on the outside I don't see how it effects your life. Don't let a g/f dictate your life as that is only a recipe for failure. I'm sure you will have to compromise a little more and not do as much gaming as you use to do when you were single but you should have time to play it from time to time. I'm 39 and just got back into gaming last year due to my 24 year old g/f. LOL. Well it doesn't hurt if your g/f is of a younger mindset or younger in age.

You are never to old...I appreciate the feedback from everyone, and several of you have the same questions.
My ex was not pushing for me to stop much, but if she called she would always ask if i were playing the game and I could tell she didn't like it too much. However, it was never a real problem.
The real killer is that you can't exactly tell someone you may be interested in that its one of your hobbies. Not at this stage in life, anyway. The stigma that it is a "kid's thing" is still prevelant in this day and age and I don't really see it going anywhere.
It would be cool to have a girl who like games, but I haven't been so lucky.
Benny_Blakk
I am 25, and the girls I date now and days don't seem to care. We are at the generation where we grew up with games now. So it seems a little more acceptable, I dated one girl who would sit down and watch me play. I asked what she wanted to do go out rent a movie or a game and she would prefer the game. I feel it is more accepted as a entertainment value now. It is like on profiles everyone says they like music and movies...well why not throw in games it is the same value. Some would want to sit down and watch a 2 hour movie, and some would prefer to play a game for 2 hours instead.
i remember playing lotro with a 58 year old who fell asleep while raiding funniest thing ever! When your old your wise, and i look up to older gamers myself (although im 17) i think they have a lot going for themselves and i respect them.

Lol, thanks for the condolences mate... next year will be our year!!!
Anyways, isn't the average age of videogamers nowadays like 30 or something?
Never too old to play games. Gaming is a hobbie and just like how people collect marbles, take photos, edit videos, WE GAME.

Ha! Very funny and also very true a lot of college kids take drugs, and gaming can help keep you out of that boat(you have something to do during the day so you dont start smoking crack and having intercourse with random ppl)
yes people are biased towards gaming , but they do not dissaprove when you watch shi tty tv shows or some junk reality tv-talk show.
or when people lose LOT of their spare time into the so called social networking (facebook ect) when they could experience an awesome video game cause VG offer much more than lame tv shows-newer blockbuster movies and facebook.
Did Sony send you a letter to get off PSN because you were too old or something?
You're never too old to do what you enjoy.
My Aunts and Uncles will play games some when they come to visit and their in their 50s. I'm 25 myself.
I may be late but u shouldn't give up a hobby, its like a me time thing. sounds like this woman wants control, trust me man first its the game, then its bballing too much and the list will continue if there isn't middle ground. Gaming is like any hobby (Fantasy Football, the gym, martial arts, and so on.) I know love and fondiness is a hard thing to shake but if u gotta break a hobby that isn't harming the relationship or anyone then thats not coo. I could see if u were smoking weed and stuff i could see y.
U said u manage it well so the problem is within u man, i would get upset at my girl because all this is to me is a test to see how much control she got over u. I got a brother thats like that letting woman stump all over him because he gets sex its pathetic. sex is good but at the same time i aint a slave to it, i know this is jus games but sometimes something like a small hobby getting broken by a woman is much bigger then that, its all about control.
I am now 29 and married. I play more video games now than I ever did before, and I have been gaming since Atari. I guess it is because I don't go out with my friends as much anymore because they are all older and have responsibilities as well. If I am going to spend more time at home, I may as well have a hobby that I enjoy.
